Centurions v Bus Wreckers

Post by Paulpowersleftfoot on Fri Oct 05, 2018 6:25 pm

Just Fabian Delph ruled out by Pep for our trip to war torn Beirut on Sunday
DeBruyne & Mendy trained all week just a question mark over Gundogan who is 50/50
Can’t see DeBruyne starting but he’s a possible for the bench

Been a long time since we last won at Anfield in 2003 but I think we will
win there on Sunday,Liverpool are not in the best of form at the moment and it’s a good time to play them

I do think we will go with a more pragmatic approach than in the past and give Mendy the cover to get forward without leaving us too exposed

I think we will start

Ederson
Walker Kompany Laporte Mendy
Fernandinho Stones
Sterling BSilva DSilva
Aguero

Muric Otamendi Sane DeBruyne Foden Jesus Mahrez

Snatch your hand off for 1-1 right now.

Nightmare place and we simply fold every time. I just hope Pep has a different game plan. He will never park the bus but we simply cannot go all out attack.

I'd start;
..........Ederson
Walker, Otamendi, Vince, Zinchenko
..............Ferdi
Sterling, Merlin, Bernado, Sane
...........Aguero.

Mendy isn't 100%, so can't be a starter against Liverpool.

I like Rich's team. Do something different and be more defensive.

Totally agree with PPLF’s team. Stones isn’t up to playing DM on his own against Liverpool, but alongside Fern makes sense. Mendy has to start, and when he bombs forward, Laporte shifts across to LB, Stones drops into CB. Just please don’t start Laporte as left back and expect him to get forward, he did it at Anfield last year in the Champs League and was terrible.

The LB issue is what drains me of any confidence I might have had. Even if Mendy is ok to start he’s usually been suspect when it comes to his defensive duties. Danilo is not exactly match fit, but might be our best option.

I did think Zinchenko was doing alright at left back in the previous couple of games, maybe Pep was resting him against Hoffenheim to bring him back in for Dippers?

Not good enough as a defender to play LB against the better sides

Not pretty but we’re the better side by the end of the half. The booing of Sterling has to be the most childish thing in football.

dodgy at the back early on but liverpool have stopped pressing. they tend to get tired after 45 minutes so let's hope they're tired already.

I thought it was a penalty on Aguero - Louvren looked at ref worried. a few possible yellows to liverpool players not given.

Henderson on Bernardo late in the 1st half was a definite yellow as he was in a dangerous zone.

Mendy giving the ball away far too often with some poor passing.

Awful penalty.

I thought it was all sorted out beforehand who are the penalty takers

But we are still top of the league. Very Happy

Got to be absolutely gutted. Crap game, but had the crowd quiet after 25 mins.

Mahrez. Dear oh dear. His pens weren't great at Leicester. Not sure wtf Silva was thinking allowing a player who looks like he's very very low on confidence, take a penalty.

He needs to seriously step up and step up quickly, otherwise, his arse is gonna be warming the bench for most of the season.

If I was Jesus, I'd be going mental in the dressing room. A striker, who wants the penalty, then it's given to Mahrez???

Would have took a point before the game, but it feels like a loss.

Shite game, which I felt no team deserved to win. Mahrez n Sterling were fukin woeful throughout and Sane should have come on far earlier.
That game was there for the taking ftom the 15th minute and we just weren't good enough to take it.
As for the penalty....WTF!!!!

Should have given it to Ederson, he definitely wouldn't have hit it 6tf over the bar.....thst said, neither would anyone else.

Cant really argue with the assessment of the game. Just disappointed that we didn't take advantage when we had the chance, like you said blue I would have been happy with a point but now feels like a loss and an opportunity wasted

It's one of those. We'd have been happy with a point before the game, especially in the first 15 minutes. But, like Oz says, we're a tad disappointed not to capitalise on our superiority.

I thought that Liverpool were just tired... they had a really really long journey back from Naples you know...

it's twice as far as Hoffenheim.. and they played a day later too,, and later in the evening...
