CITY v HOFFENHEIM

Post by Topdawg on Wed Dec 12, 2018 5:27 pm

Mustn't lose game.

If we lose tonight by playing a weekend team, we could finish 2nd in the group (If Lyon beat Shakhtar) and we'd be playing the winners of another group. Teams like. Madrid, Barca, Juve, Dortmund, PSG, Bayern and Porto.

If we top the group we'd play a runner up like Atletico, Schalke, Ajax or Roma.

So we can't afford to lose tonight.

Hope to see Foden play, probably Kompany and Otamendi at CB, maybe rest Sane and Sterling for Everton at the weekend. No idea how we'll line up tonight.

Personally I don’t think Lyon will beat Shaktar, but sadly it’s still not the dead rubber it should have been. Other than Foden I cant see Pep taking too many chances with this one. Seems like the injury list is growing by the day so the options are pretty limited.

Must have been a difficult XI to pick tonight with who we’ve got available. It’s good to see Foden start but we do look a touch lightweight on the left, might be a good test for him. Two days after Neil Custis tweets “Phil Foden agrees to sit on the bench for 6 years”, he starts!

Probably lucky to stay on the pitch there. This is looking like hard work.

Whether it’s a foul or not is debatable, but once the ref’s given it he probably should have carded him too.

This team need to show me something tonight, we are seriously struggling for players with these injuries and this squad has to step up.

Lyon losing though so pressure off for now, and can we have a game soon where the keeper isn't from Roy of the Rovers, some unbelievable saves recently.

Unfortunately it’s one of those “there was contact” ones. If he gives it, he could easily have carded him. It’s one where you want it for you, don’t think it is against you.

So flattening stirling was ok flattening Jesus is ok but the slightest brush against one of their players is a penalty....a load of bollocks

You also have to factor in the UEFA directive to give City nothing at all.

Can see us going 2 down here, but fuck me Ilkay couldn't hurry if he tried.  Slows down every attack he touches it.

One of the best penalties I’ve seen taken in a long while, Sane just goes from strength to strength

That was some save from Ederson early in the half too. We’ve been pretty good since going behind considering we’ve got a midfielder at left back and a centre back at right back.

Walker on for Stones makes sense. Their sub Rees Nelson is a little box of tricks when he’s on it.

Ha Ha raggies, bet you wished you fielded a proper team tonight. Could have won their group and given us Juve in our possibles for last 16

Yep, looks bad on Gabby cos it’s his job, but Sane and Sterling have probably been the most wasteful tonight.

So we have Schalke, Roma, Ajax or Athletico in the next round while the Spuds Dippers & Rags get a choice of Dortmund, Barca, Real, PSG, Juventus, Bayern Lyon or Porto

Still not easy by any means but thank God we topped our group.

Some great link up play & flowing counter attack movement in the 2nd half even when it resulted in zero end product.

Don't think any can get Lyon since they came 2nd too.

Only one easyish team there in Porto.
