Saints V City

Post by blisteringblue on Sun Dec 30, 2018 1:19 pm

CITY XI | Ederson, Danilo, Kompany (C), Sterling, Aguero, Laporte, Silva, Bernardo, Fernandinho, Mahrez, Zinchenko

SUBS | Muric, Walker, Stones, Sane, Otamendi, Jesus, Foden

Really feels like a last chance saloon game. Typical City is back :-)

Absolute must win

Saints team is an odd one. No way they are playing to win. Early goal so important and see if we can hold a lead today :-0

They’ve left all their quick players out, so shouldn’t be hitting us on the break. They’ll be trying to stay in the game, looking for a set-piece. Dinho back is huge for us, fingers crossed for Zinky. Comfortable away win please.

Why do we get so many injuries compared to Liverpool who have had barely any injuries to their first eleven?

Yep, it's identical to either of the previous 2 games. We have a mental problem in front of goal, it's going to cost us this league.

commentator called it though (us stream), was that he's not used to guy coming over his right shoulder from behind as he is usually receiving the ball on the touchline.  the move infield caught him out.

Totally agree Nijinsky, pretty much what the dippers did with Robertson and look how that turned out.

I think the Dippers bought Robertson (from Hull?), but totally agree any actual left back from the academy must be better than a square peg midfielder.

I suppose one way of looking at it is, apart from 10 mins of utter shite, that wasn’t a bad performance. Just try not to think how many the Dippers might have scored in those 10 mins.

I was listening to the post match commentary and the discussion was around a LB, primarily because it's the area that Liverpool will target with Salah.  Their suggestion was to have Danilo there and have Otamendi support him.  Now, maybe it's just me, but I can't see how Danilo would be the best option there.  Isn't Laporte faster than Danilo?
