I dont know why this surprises me so much as this country has gone backwards. Toseef Shah (fined £50) for vandalism, Emander Choudrey burned poppys and (£500 fine). Yet theses 2 guys get jailed for 12 months, i dont condone what they did in any way shape or form, but surely the punishment should be the same?

I hear ya, I'll give you two reasons...

Firstly the justice system is not perfect (especially anglo amercian) and secondly you will always get punished more if you attack an ethnic minority or race, this is because it will also counts as a hate crime ... they don't want people terrorizing black, muslims, jews etc. I agree that they should be protected but I don't condone the ethnic minority to openly be racist, some abuse the system but these number are far less than hate groups like EPL... if the government doesn't hit hard these type of hate groups will get up to more shit!

Basically they are made an example of, so that it doesn't happen in the future, similar to the rioters that mostly got ridiculously long sentences...

I do see what is racist about painting a poppy on a mosque, and i condem them and agree with the sentence. Writing 'Islam will dominate, Osama is coming' is far worse in my book as its condoning terrorism, and burning a poppy during a 2 minutes silence which is paying tribute to the thousands of men and women who fought the facist regime at the time is deplorable. Complete hypocricy in my book and a disgrace. I have witnessed the Islam4uk marches in Birmingham and they preach hatred and condone murdering innocent people.

If the judicial system thinks that is in any way fair they are well wide of the mark. It will give scum like the EDL and BNP more reason to carry on and use this example to preach their own warped ideals of life.

They are all scum, and should be treated the same, but still this country fails to recognise this.

Agree that they should be treated the same and I am sure in many cases they do or even the Muslim might come off worse. This is just one case but I can see why they would come down harder in non-minority.

We dont live in a perfect world . If everything was fair then yes I agree that they should be treated the same... Brown people get enough shit on the street, I witness this everyday I walk out yet I dont see any Muslim shouting kill the infidels... You only see that on tv.

See Hitler, the nationalist and groups like EDL bring up cases like this to enrage people. I'm not buying it, we dont know the full details of the case, how can we judge? How many cases has been in favour of Muslims and how many the opposite? Full facts we need!

That Muslim idiot is a tiny minority within a minority he cant do much damage and most people including the other Muslims will zacht at him. Married to an Asian, work in a school that is 65% Afro Carribean, only a few give them a bad name and they are mostly shouted down by the majority of their own people, even that is a bad phrase as we are all the same, colour race and creed. I have to admit that, when i was a teenager and collecting for charity, i used to go up to people before i understood that it was the wrong thing to do.

I'm 46 and I've never had anyone 'thrust' a poppy in my face. I've never seen or heard of it happening to anybody else either. Whether people choose to purchase one or not is up to them.

However, a poppy to me signifies the sacrifices previous generations made for our country and the liberty we take for granted, which is why I made my initial comments on shooting those who would burn the poppy.
