Transfer rumblings

Post by Bewar3them00n on Sat Jan 28, 2012 4:12 pm

Gossip from the official site:

If the Blues are going to dip their toe in the transfer market, it’s now or never with less than four full days remaining of the January window.

Let’s get straight down to business with Inside Futbol’s story that City are chasing Borussia Dortmund’s Paraguayan striker Lucas Barrios.

The story, which originates from German paper Bild, claims Arsenal and Sunderland are also showing interest with the player available for around £10m.

TalkSport claim a Serie A winger is delaying a transfer deal in the hope of a move to the Blues.

They report: “Manchester City target Alessio Cerci could be about to join Torino - but is hoping a call from Roberto Mancini will lead to move to England, according to reports in Italy.

“Italian website calciomercato.com claims Torino are currently negotiating over a deal for winger Cerci, who has fallen out of favour at Fiorentina.

“The 24-year-old was strongly linked with Manchester City in the summer but Mancini did not follow up his initial interest. It has now been suggested that Cerci is holding out for a move to the Etihad Stadium.”

Possibly going in the other direction is Roque Santa Cruz who The Sun has been in talks with Sevilla as well as current club Real Betis about a permanent move to La Liga.

“I have no desire to return to City,” he is quoted as saying.

With Carlos Tevez’s suitors all claiming they have ended their interest in the striker, that ends today’s round-up – but as ever, watch this space!

Late bid - Cavanni........Mancini wants him, and with the Tevez issue being that he may not decide to come until sold....why not splash £20m on him?

We could do with another striker desperately. Balotelli and Dzeko are good strikers, but still not proven as much in the PL......due to Balotelli unable to start every game mainly through suspensions..and Dzeko not really taken his chances with our team not playing with wide men.

Either that, or buy a decent right winger and play Johnson of the left and the new winger on the right with Dzeko upfront and Aguero behind him with Silva...Yaya and Barry/Milner, holding.

Not sure what you mean Johnny boy.....but Tevez ain't going anywhere. It's the beach in Argentina, or the EDS squad at best. What do you think he will do?

Goes against the grain - but lets just imagine one thing:

Mancini says to Tevez - apologise publicly and say you will give everything for the shirt like you used to and i will integrate you back into the team until the summer, whereby, your valuation will be £30-40m + and you can play again. Dick about in training or in the team and we will fine you money..likewise, score us goals and there is a bonus in it.

Where would everybody stand if he did that?

For me...i hate the twat....but i love City more, and if given the choice of making us as strong as fuck in the run-in and winning the league, i'd bite my tongue and go with it. Then sell the twat for a profit, cash in on the FFP bollocks...and buy another top class striker in the summer.

*awaiting the grenades coming my way*

Cavanni would be brilliant, he'd have a field day with some Prem defenses, which aren't as drilled as some Italian ones, he was lethal against us at times, and that was when we were playing with a swagger, scoring for fun. As much as I like Mario, if he costs us the title by doing something really silly in a crunch game, I don't think Roberto would forgive him, Mancini would go white overnight, better we have as less loose Cannons as possible! Saying that, he's popped up in crunch games for us and done the business, FA semi, Final, OT, against Spurs.
As for Dzeko, it's all about the wide men again, if you look at Spurs and Utd away, we were getting to the deadball line on numerous occasions, stretching the play by playing at a higher tempo, Richards, Milner, Clichy, Nasri even, all getting round the back and feeding in killer balls, a la Dzeko's goal against Liverpool, early ball in at pace..boom, goal.
We seem to be going down the middle more at the moment, I don't kmow if Mancini is trying to keep it tight to protect our weakened central spine with VK and YaYa out. or teams have worked out how to stop us, whatever the reason, we need to rediscover the one touch pass, get Richards and Clichy down the wings with support from Milner, Silver, Nasri etc..
We showed signs that we were improving against Spurs, Everton away is going to be real tough one, I hope we make amends for the display at Liverpool.

Blueboy,
I totally agree with you, it's a win win situation for all concerned, even that slimeball Kia will make extra millions.
Mancini just has to pitch it right to Tevez and Kia...
Carlos, picture the scene, you, the prodigal son, returns to the fold to save City from falling at the final hurdle, scoring vital goals to win us the title, the slate wiped clean, all will be forgiven by the fans, and you can leave for Italy, your image restored, your value increased and Kia gets an even bigger bonus day!

But, more than likely, it'll be 2 stubborn individuals, neither willing to backdown, Mancini should just apologise in private to Carlos, swallow his pride, and just do what's right to get us over the line

Not sure many will share your view Moon....but as I said...it's about the team and we are talking about a hypothetical scenario here...as Mancini has already offered an olive branch which was refused...however, things haven't turned out how Kia and Tevez thought they may have......that was 3 months ago - and still, nobody wants him that bad - so maybe we could have the upper hand?

I guess most on here though will not entertain the idea for one second.

Me included 3 weeks ago - but as it stands after the past 2 weeks - if we wait until our squad is back to what it was in Nov/Dec....we may have lost ground which may not be recoverable by the time Mario, Kolo and Yaya come back - so as i said..it's about the team.

Would rather sign a top class striker and tell Tevez to fuck off....but not sure we will.

I agree with all these comments, if tevez was a man he would admit he was wrong, apologise to everybody, come and give everything he has got and get a move in the summer and everyone benefits. But i just don't believe he will ever back down because the kia tosser will neverlet him as he thinks he is bigger than the game of football and much more important than the world game, deluded twat

After what he's done you cannot trust him to deliver and so even a place on the bench would be a risk. Don't let him have the chance to wreck the season any further, wreck him first.
Stamp it out like in the Untouchables: He refuses to come on in the biggest game in years, you nail him to the floor and make sure neither he nor anyone else dare even think about it in future.
