I'm sure that has nothing to do with it. Did we sign Aguero because he gives you a boner?

Re: City to sign World Player of The Year
Sorry....trying to do 10 things at once.....yep, you're right, but at 92:30, as mentioned before, I was at the end of the garden, smashing the football goals to pieces in frustration....1 minute later, after missing the Sergio goal live, I was on my knees, with a boner and crying like a baby in front of the TV....and friends we'd invited over
That day was one blur to another......but it cost me a whole new set of football goals for my lads...and a trip to the skip.

If Wensdi thought the C word had been over-used on here, she'd have hated being in the garden with me that day!!!

Re: City to sign World Player of The Year
nothing has been more worth it.
I had to give up watching. It was that wretched. 30 minutes later I went back to the pc, supposing I'd better take my medicine and see what happened. Couldn't believe it.
Got the kids dressed up with City gear and headed off to Paris to celebrate.
But I wasn't as excited as you!

Re: City to sign World Player of The Year
Oh no....I wasn't excited, I was at the end of the garden, making a BBQ after Mackie scored.....kicking the shit out of the goals. I couldn't watch it - thought I was going to have a Thrombie!! Dzeko scored, I ran in and saw the goal and time.....and thought "typical bloody City"...went back down the end of the garden, finished off the BBQ and goal post-demolition and then heard an almighty scream through the open door from my lads and 10 guests!.....never run so fast, just as the replay of Aguero's goal was being played.
Honestly thought I was going to have an MI that day!

a heart attack to those not medically inclined.
I was there for the Hammers game a couple of years back, but that couldn't compare. We'd battered them quite badly that season.

Re: City to sign World Player of The Year
I was there and I very nearly did! After half an hour of screaming for the players to try something different, thinking how bloody annoying it would be to lose our first home league game of the season to relegation candidates down to ten men... Then Dzeko equalised and I had to console myself with the fact that the home record was intact... And then Balotelli fell over in the box and yet somehow managed to scoop the ball out to Sergio, running in like a man possessed, skipping over Onuoha's challenge and then he booted it. You could literally feel the entire stadium hold it's breath! The back of the net bulged as the ball hit it and it felt like minutes passed while it sunk in. And this happened about 20 yards in front of me, history in the making, the most incredible end to a season. It still gives me goosebumps watching it back. I had a huge bruise on my shin the next day where I'd cracked it against the seat (so much for crowd safety )Topdawg wrote:I'd have died if I'd have been there that day.
The win two years later against West Ham wasn't a patch on that. We knew we had it in the bag.

Re: City to sign World Player of The Year
That West Ham games was an anti climax. We'd blitzed them 6-0 at home in the league cup I think and battered them at their place. If we'd lost that game, I'd have cried.

Re: City to sign World Player of The Year
It was indeed. The QPR game, nobody had time to absorb what had happened and the stewards were barely in place to stop a pitch invasion. For the Hammers game, they were lined up and ready with quarter of an hour left on the clock. But they were not stopping anyone: There was a young woman steward stood with one of the old stalwarts, she was looking very concerned as fans started to fill the aisle. She looked at him and said "What do we do if they come down?" and he just said, "Let them go, love."

Re: City to sign World Player of The Year
The West Ham game could not be compared to QPR as already stated we had already done them 3 times & they had nothing to play for but pride. However the final few games build up like the run in leading up to QPR were just as exciting. Nothing will eclipse the Aguero moment as long as I live in Football terms anyway. Watching from a bar at 11.00pm on the Sunday night knowing work was around he corner on the Monday, so no major time to celebrate unless into work hungover or not turn up. ( not an option for me)
Watching the chairman of the supporters club leave the bar with 6 mins remaining head down shouting typical F ing city. My daughter who was 14 came with us and was in tears. I kept saying we can do it still, whether I believed it or not, I managed to convince her & the hope at 2-2 we were urging them on as if we were in the middle of the Stadium. The winner well like everyone else jumping up & down tears of joy rolling down our cheeks some i'm sure were of sheer relief. Grown men hugging each other beer flying everywhere as people in celebration threw their arms in the air forgetting the glass was still attached what a Night/Morning. The half hour drive home was fantastic. Got in watched the recording of the game. So ended up with 2 hours sleep then to work. I am not lying when I say I have watched that game at least 50 times or more since along with the 1-6 at the swamp. wedding, Daughters birth Aguero moment 3 best days of my life.
Sorry for the long reply but dear to my heart.

Re: City to sign World Player of The Year
Watched the game in a sports bar in Harrow, London There was 3 other games on different screens if I remember rightly, including the Rag game. There was Spud supporters Rags, QPR fans & a sprinkling of other fans along with me & 4 other City fans. At 2.1 down and the scum 1 up I was about as dejected as one could be Typical fucking City was uttered many times in my despair. A big fat Rag taunted me from across the bar. I decided to get pissed and drown my sorrows. Even wen we got the equaliser I was still depressed thinking how typical of us to only manage a draw. When that goal went in the place erupted I went mental hugging everyone in sight. I ran over to the fat Rag and stuck 2 fingers right in his face, shouting ' fuckin get in'. I'm amazed to this day that he didn't lamp me one. At the final whistle I ran around the pub jumping and shouting and ran into the street roaring City City !!
That and the FA cup win v Stoke at Wenbley were probably the 2 greatest days of my life. Beats marriage, the birth of my kids & many other joyous occasions

Re: City to sign World Player of The Year
Great testimonials guys.....made me chuckle "better than my own kids birth...."3rd on my list after.....
I think that day in particular, will go in memory, until the day we'll die for most of us 'older' fans who have supported them through thick n thin.
My Uncle was in the house and he hates watching football with me. He's a massive City fan in his late 60's....and saw the likes of Bell, Buzzer and Lee from old. I only have very few fleeting memories of them as small kid on the Kippax with my dad and Uncle, but more of the Joe Royle era when he was a CF for us.
However, because of my language and apoplectic demeanour when City aren't doing well, I tend to take myself off outside for a fag and a rant to myself...even against Bournemouth, as my wife looks at me with disgust.
So I spare my lads the vitriol...even though they laugh at my outbursts and phraseology of what I call certain players!
However, that day, as mentioned, I woke up cool as you like. Today was the day...QPR, piece of piss.
Then the shit hit the fan at 2-1 and that's when I resorted to type.....every swear word in the book came out, except, we have friends and family over - all City fans. The air went literally blue.....even some of my mates were 'effing and jeffing' and my missus just smiled, but gave me that look - "get the f*ck outside if you're losing the plot"....hence my foray into the garden, looking for anything I could take my utter frustration out on. The kids goal posts. "splinter here, plastic there, garden full of netting and goal post bits"......then......."Dzekoooo".........screams, cheers etc etc.
Ran in, saw the goal......walked straight back out and thought "typical City, so close, yet so far...wished we'd have been beaten 3-1!".....so started the BBQ and kicked a few bits of goal posts at the fence.
JUST, as I'd put the last log on the BBQ, that almighty scream came from the kitchen.....i've honestly never run so fast...just as I entered, I heard "Sergio you fucking beauty".....and turned to see the replay of his goal. On my knees, 3 foot away from the TV and in tears.....to turn, to see my unemotional Uncle and all my mates, plus my missus and kids (my missus was a rag supporter before I met her, now a true blue)....all crying.
My kids, I love them, I cried at their birth. But nothing, and I mean nothing, has EVER made me that emotional. Even at my fathers funeral last year after delivering the eulogy, I didn't cry like I did that day...........
AND THAT MY FRIENDS....IS FOOTBALL AND WHY WE DO AND SAY WHAT WE DO.

Re: City to sign World Player of The Year
been lucky enough to see City win the old 1st division fa cup, league cup & cup winners cup all by the age of 12. I guess family must mean more to me than football in lists of priorities. I bet my wife would not agree with me on that given the time I am on the website not just this forum though.
I was in trouble last night as I started watching those clips again from the above posts, I didn't open the 1981 one apart from to see how lng it lasts so will watch that tonight when I get home from work ( lunch break currently)
