Just read about this. The judge says that the council 'misled' another judge. Isn't 'misled' the same as lying to the judge? Shouldn't that be perjury? Shouldn't someone be doing some time over this rather than the council tax payers paying for their 'misleading' the judge?

They very very rarely do people for perjury in High courts Family courts etc... In fact there are very few cases of perjury in criminal courts Lets face it someone lies on oath in virtually every criminal case !

True. But too often no one is actually held accountable for sometimes some horrendous things going on. It's all corporate. Make people pay for lying and fucking up big time

I get that Tony but they lied to the judge to take this baby away from his family. That deserves a heck of a lot more than a corporate fine.

Don't tell bluey, he be screaming blue murder!

I'd have awarded £50,000 each, so £150,000 total. that would stop them making a similar mistake again..

A fucking disgrace! You've the whole spectrum of extremes. Baby P negligence by social services to lying about alleged conversations to take a baby off the parents and using the excuse of "unorthodox views" to do so!!

They should have been compensated far more than £11k. Having your baby taken away for no clear reason must have been terrifying, even more so if the mother had minor mental issues.

The last statement sums it up:

Kirklees Council said in a statement: "The court and parties accepted that the council was correct to issue these proceedings, but mistakes were made which resulted in the court awarding the family compensation."

So they admit that they've been corrupt and lied in Court, but are concerned over money FFS???? Whoever made that statement wants sacking! Evil or Very Mad

Ha, I thought you'd be really mad. Quite mild for you!!!

When people think they can get away with stuff, they are liable to push things too far. You've got to get the balance right so people aren't so afraid to make mistakes that they end up being far too conservative.

I think from the article, the mothers mental issues were as a result of having her baby removed unjustly...

I agree...and if she had them before, they'd only be worse after that experience...it's not like it was for one bloody night! 2 months without your newborn must have seemed like forever - and all the lost memories of watching your baby grow.

That's why I said it's 'extremes'....you've the complete and utter neglect in their duties over Baby P, to this! If they can't make a sound judgement in cases like this, a professional opinion, then they don't deserve to be employed in the role and everyone of them should be sacked with immediate effect and the family should take the local council to Court for a far bigger compensation package.

Jesus, I read the other day that Anthony Stokes had to pay someone 30,000 euros for head butting him!!

I thought she had some minor mental health issues but they used what the father said about baby milk formula against them. Ok we don't know the full facts, but the judge said they misled (lied) to the family court judge. Someone should have done some time for this.
