Should we be all in for Sanchez?

Post by blueboy on Mon Mar 06, 2017 9:56 am

We are clearly going to offload the likes of Navas, possibly Nolito and several others in the summer...so there's an opportunity to bring in more attacking players.

Yes, we need defenders, but that's a given. Not often do players like Sanchez come on the market and he's proven in the PL.

He likes Pep, so should we be all in for him as it looks like he's said he's off in the summer?

He's maybe just a tad too old for Pep. Yes, he's only 28, but Pep seems to be generally going for much younger attackers like Sane, Jesus and, if rumours are true that Pep sanctioned it, Sterling.

You could argue that Nolito is 30 so my theory is rubbish but I think Pep got him because he knew he could rely on him and wasn't sure how Sane and Jesus would acclimatise.

Having said all that, Sanchez has been involved in 26 goals this season from 26 PL appearances. That's bloody good going by anyone's standards. He'll bring a lot of energy and talent to our team but who gives way for him in the starting XI? He won't want to play 2nd fiddle to Sterling or Sane out wide or Jesus up front.

We've already seen Kev dropped to make way for Yaya and Aguero dropped for Jesus. We saw the problems acused trying to squeeze Gundogan, Silva, KdB and Fernandinho into the starting XI.

Having said all that, that's Pep's problem to solve. WOuld he go for Isco instead???

Fuck no.....TLMLF's lazy enough in MF, can you imagine if he was in a 2 man defence?????  Razz Razz Razz I know you were kidding.

See Ian Ladyman gave TLMLF an 8 and Silva a 7.5!!! Not sure what game he was watching!

Silva is the best player for us at the moment. He's playing in balls, especially for Sané, that are exquisite and perfectly timed. He's making Sané wait a couple of seconds for the pass which changes the whole context of his attack. Silva plays it where Sané should be running rather than when Sané first wants it. It means Leroy is bearing down on goal, speeding away from the defender, rather than having to take him on.

That's the difference between a decent player and a top talent.

Next season, go all out for this formation:

Neuer
Bellerin, Stones, Laporte
Sterling, Silva, KDB, Sane
Messi, Aguero, Jesus

Sod the defensive MF'er. Razz

Neuer - £50m
Bellerin - £40m
Laporte - £50m
Messi - £120m

£260m. No problem.  Wink

We're just in a phase with football at the moment where the DM is so important.

If you've got players like Messi, Silva etc. holding and playing the ball, scorching pace with the likes of Sane, Sterling, Bellerin etc.,
who on earth can live with you when you attack? Defence can be less important because teams spend so much time on the back foot. As long as all your players are willing to work hard and run hard, then I think you can get by without a DM.

Apart from Messi, KDB and Silva, he'd be the next player on the team sheet....a million miles in front of everyone else on that list too  Razz

All those players will run their bollocks off for the team, except maybe Messi who earned the right not to if he doesn't want to. Aguero won't.

How has Messi earned the right not to....yet the long serving City hero and legend that is Sergio Aguero hasn't?

Think we're going to have to just agree to disagree on this Dawg.

I think there's definitely a place for Sergio in the team.....he'd still be my first choice over Jesus, Sterling and Sane......marginally over Jesus on what we've seen, as we've only seen a few games so far - Sergio has done it for 5 seasons and still only 28.

I'd love to squeeze them all into the team - hence my reply earlier.

I love what Serge has done for us but I just cannot see him happy being 2nd choice or alternating. Jesus may find it acceptable but, at his age, I think Aguero could well move on.

He's still one of our best players.

Actually played well yesterday,I'd have drug tested him

He's played 24 of our 26 league games. He seems better at CB than FB and he does offer us the long out ball to Sterling.

I said yesterday I am more comfortable with Kolarov at Centre Half than Ota.   Kolarov at left back though, that's another story  Razz

If we could get him for £25m it'd be a steal.

Anything under £40M is a great deal, even if he's in the last year of his contract. Then we'd sell Aguero for £80M... Wink

Sanchez has an attitude problem i dont like in a player. He wants his own way or he throws a hissy fit, he sulks when he gets subbed and now he wants to leave and is having another sulk so he got dropped. He should have been dropped from the match day squad not even on the bench.

Didn't do much tonight though. Arsenal were unlucky. They had some good chances first half and I think it was a penalty
