Yeah, he's decent...maybe needs another year or two. Foden looks like a player that will be a 1st teamer....he's so adaptable with excellent vision and ball skills.

I think Foden has overtaken Diaz in people's thoughts.

He has in mine.....not because Diaz has regressed, he's still an amazing potential, but I think Foden has a better all-round game which gives a Manager more options.

I think Diaz has found it more difficult to make the same sort of impact now that he's moved up to a higher age group than he could be playing. But the city policy to play kids at a higher age group is a very good thing and they'll need to develop further, and faster, to make the grade. But some of these kids are only 16 or 17 and are sometimes playing with U23s which is a major step up for them. And they are managing to cope when given their chance (I think Sancho has 3 goals in 5 starts for the EDS or 4 in 6).

I hadn't really heard much of Foden last year, it was pretty much Brahim Diaz who was getting shouted about.

I'll be surprised if those two, and Sancho, aren't part of the pre season plans.

Completely agree Dawg about the step up process, but that's what Pep wanted from before he came in last summer - obviously, he'd watched this age group in particular and thought - "test them"....because for all his faults over Joe that many seem to think he's made, he's got a plan and I'm sure the U18 kids are part of it, or at least some of them who have the potential to make that step up earlier, rather than waiting until they are 20/21....which means many of the current EDS older players will be sold or sent on loan.

It'll be interesting what he thinks of Unal. He seems to be the one player on loan, albeit in Holland, who seems to have flourished for the move.

I'm astonished with Unal. When he came 18 months ago he was useless. He couldn't control the ball at all. I thought we'd just spent £2M to get a young player for the Turkish market. But he did well enough in his first loan season and he's gone crazy this season. But the standard isn't what it used to be.
