Kompany's days are really numbered...

Re: Kompany's days are really numbered...

Post by skyblueoz on Sat Mar 18, 2017 11:51 am

The thing I don't get about that is  a) He is frightened to play him in a full 90 mins incase he gets injured again.  B) He is frightened to give him 15 or 20 mins incase he breaks down again. He goes on to say that he thought about bringing him on at 2-1 v Monaco to go up against the tall players but decided it was too much of a risk instead . C) How could he have thought about bringing him on when we were 2-1 down considering he was not in the 18 man squad!!!!!!!!!

Another made up story I think.

I meant to point out that after points A & B that if he was deemed fit then at what point does he say ok I wont put him in the 18 man squad or play him????? If he's fit give him some game time & see.

Maybe he meant that he'd have liked to have brought him on then.

When you had the 2nd team, you could play a returning player for 2-3 games to check fitness but there's nothing available now.

Maybe we should have loaned him out for 1-3 months when the window was open, even if he wasn't fully fit. He just needs 3-4 games in a month to show he's not broken and he could be back in our team.

All ifs buts & maybes. I actually wish Martinez had picked him for the Belgium squad & he could have got a some competitive time on the pitch. The next matches are Pool, Arsenal & Chelsea all very importanyt games so I cant see him being included in those squads  especially if he couldn't make the squad for Middlesbro

So this season is finished for him bar accidents elsewhere.

Just play him....we have 3 subs and do away with making a sub at 89 mins which is becoming the norm in football. Most teams only make 2 worthwhile subs and add a 3rd to give somebody a taste of the action.

He's not contributing to the team anyway....so if he breaks down, at the least the club know he's definitely finished.

If he lasts, we have our Captain for however long he lasts and he'll bring experience and stability to the likes of Stones.

Not really sure what the bloody hold up is if he's been training with the team for 2 weeks...even at 80% he's better than Otamendi and Kolorov FFS!

But to be fair.....all clubs move on and all players get older.

I'm excited and looking forward to who our new spine will be.

Sad but excited as well. How obvious can it be for Connie that he's been fit for a few weeks and doesn't make the squad
