They are already on holiday.  Something stinks here, has Pep lost the dressing room? They have simply given up this season.  Too many know they are gone.  Only saving grace to me is a year out of CL no bad thing.

Thought Boro were brilliant at the back today....you have to give them credit.

We were sloppy for both goals at the back....

Same old story though...we had enough chances to score, we just didn't convert them.

I agree, it was an odd starting line-up by Pep, however, we can't cry out for youth and then when he gives them a chance complain. Not sure the Gabriel and Aguero partnership worked today, even though both scored a goal.

We miss Silva massively. Think Aguero got a groin strain there, so I'll be surprised if he plays the next game against Palace.

Still, no ground lost, but boy, do we need 2/3 new defenders and some craft or pace from MF.

Sane has been garbage for the past few games, Sterling no better......if he started them both, some would complaining that he should be dropping them.....can't have it both ways. They've both played a lot of games recently and are both still young....we cry out for youth, he gives youth a chance and that's always going to be at the expense of other players...today, it was TLMLF.

We all want to see Gabriel play alongside Aguero, but then complain when they do about the choices he makes. A little objectivity is required here. Boro are fighting for their life and were brilliant in defence today...as always, a team can be shit for most of the season and then raise their game against us....that happened today. The amount of blocks Gibson and Chambers got in today was phenomenal.

No places lost with the rags drawing at home....and we have a decent run in now and hopefully, Silva will be back.

I think today showed why we need 2/3 more quick, attacking full backs....Clichy got himself into some great positions in the 1st half, but absolutely no end product...and again, we defended poorly for their 2 goals.

Keep the faith people.... Very Happy

We can't make any excuses for recent performances though can we.  While we all feel fortunate to have Pep as manager - if you look at Eddie Howe and Sean Dyche, with their limited resources and bunch of rag tag players - they have been able to motivate and utilize their squads to get results when needed.  Hats off to those managers.

Re: Boro v City - Live Thread

Both teams are nowhere near winning anything though or near the top 6....they'll always be a manager or two who will do well with a crap squad, but that crap squad won't get into the top 6 or win anything....except Leicester last year. Two different scenario's, but I get what you are saying Wensdi.

The top 6 now are so close....Chelsea won't be clear next season with CL football, Spurs have again won nothing, Arsenal may be out of the top 4 this season and have so far won nothing. LFC the same....United under the moaning one are still shit and play negative football....only one team can win the PL, FA Cup, CL and League Cup.

Chelsea may do the double this year...but you have to ask yourself if they do, if they are that good, why not a treble? Prioritization. The FA Cup and PL are their targets. 2 competitions and they might only win one of them....they for me have the best squad in the PL by far. When you can drop the likes of Hazard and Costa for a PL game, then bring them on, with the likes of Willian, Pedro etc...it shows how our squad is too old, too fragile and not good enough - like it has been for two seasons now.

Pep has introduced a new style of play...has it worked with this squad? No. Will it work when he gets the full backs and additional personnel next season? I think it will.

This season has been a write off...a transitional stage.

We look like we will get top 4...so overall, the season may end with this:

Chelsea PL Winners
Chelsea/Spurs - FA Cup winners
CL - nobody
League Cup - Man United

What about LFC, Spurs (if they don't win the FA Cup), Arsenal??

United may not even get CL football next season as well.

It's so tight at the top now, more than it's ever been...nobody has the right to win trophies anymore.

The 3 home games should see us top 4 but Leicester worry me and Pep won't have learned anything.  Let's hope we are clear by by then. Rags next 2 are gooners and spuds.

Not really sure what you are getting at Dawg. He's played 43 PL games, most of them for significant minutes. If you think not playing the full 90 mins negates my point, fair enough... Wink

What your saying is you thought the starting 11 is currently our strongest team?

To beat Middlesbrough we don't need any extra players we just need to play our strongest team

As for youngesters they need to be played as and when they are good enough. Having said that I thought Garcia did ok today

It is the point tho' BBoy - we have superior players earning superior dosh, superior manager (supposedly) so we should be winning these games.  The odd slip up is expected but we went out of the Cup to Arsenal - and we have to finish in the top 4.  Today was the perfect opportunity to go ahead of Liverpool as we had that extra game on them - instead of which we flopped again.  Burnley managed it yesterday and so did Bournemouth.

You made the point that sterling has played a lot of games recently. I wouldn't call 5 or 12 minutes lots of games. not even the games where he played a half. He's basically played 4 full league games (in terms of minutes) out of the last 8 league games.

I'm only pointing out the facts.

So why did Man United draw with Swansea - at home? They have the biggest wage bill in the world, have the world's most expensive player, they were at home against a relegation team, but drew.....that's the PL.

Spurs went out of the cup to Chelsea and they've had no distractions for 6 months....but they get all the credit in the media for being 'great', but so far have won nothing.

Today was the perfect chance for United to close the gap on us or overtake us. They didn't.

Everton had a chance to close the gap on Arsenal and United....they didn't, they got battered.

Bournemouth are 21 points behind us. Burnley are 27 points behind us. Not sure how comparing a win by either team is relevant to today.

Look, I'm disappointed, but we don't have a god given right to win every game, otherwise, we'd be top.
