Robbie from Arsenal Fan TV forced to apologise

Most of us on here were around when Hillsborough happened, some of us probably watched it live and the horrendous events that unfolded. We all then saw the headlines in the Sun and obviously the campaigns that have been ongoing for 20+ years. However, is it just me or do others feel that if you mention the Sun, quote from the Sun, post from the Sun, LFC and EFC fans go fucking ape shit and force their stance on you, claiming you're an insensitive twat? It pisses me off. 

Of course, I feel sorry for those families who lost loved ones, but it didn't happen to me, so I'm empathetic, but can't be sympathetic. 

Now, Robbie from Arsenal TV had an advert on his channel which was partly sponsored by the Sun...and social media went ballistic (probably most of them would have been scousers)....so much so, he had to remove it and then do the below video to apologise to Redmen TV.

And long ball street, which I actually really like....then go and publicise the Sun on their channel!

Am I out of order with my opinion?

I only watched 3 minutes of that video.

The thing is, the Sun is owned by Sky which is owned by Fox/Murdoch.

I bet you all the money in China that most LFC/EFC fans do not boycott Sky, Fox and other Murdoch owned businesses.

Until they do, the ground that they walk upon is very shaky indeed.

Now I was at uni in Liverpool at the time and it hit everyone pretty bad. You didn't need to be a LFC fan or a football fan or a scouser for it to hit you pretty hard. I didn't like LFC at the time (the biggest cheer during my 3 years in Liverpool was after the injury time Michael Thomas goal), but it was a deeply sad time as I say and we all felt it.

Ever since then, I've approved of boycotting the Sun, but ask the LFC fans or EFC fans, or all those having a pop at Robbie if they have an account with Sunbets, or with Sky or watch films/tv programs made by Fox (Simpsons?) or read any newspaper from their stable or shop in any supermarket that sells the Sun?

Let he who is innocent cast the first stone.

Like I said, it must have been terrible for those families, but it didn't effect me personally, maybe from afar, but so does things like child labour and poverty...but I don't go around shoving it down everyone's throat.

It's got to the point for me, where I'm sick of hearing it whereby they've gone over my curve of tolerance and I'm frankly bored of hearing it. Sorry if that offends anyone, but as you know, I'm honest and speak my mind.

I'm sure that there will be quite a few just jumping on the bandwagon. Plenty will probably not witnessed it at all since it was nearly 30 years ago. Many people having a go at him would have been kids at the time and it wouldn't have affected them personally.

If you are going to boycott the Sun, and ask other to do the same, then you've got to go the whole hog and boycott anything to do with News International, SKY, Fox, Murdoch and all those that work for them and supply them.

Agree, but it's the fact that he was under so much pressure because of something that he wasn't directly affected by...it pisses me off. That Redman TV guy, even after Robbie apologised, still kept harping on at him, wanting to know why he could possibly have accepted The Sun being part of their fan channel....I would have told him to "fuck off".

He has no right to influence others with fear of repercussions. Tosser.

I feel the same level angst and sorrow for them as I do for families of Holocaust victims....but if someone told me I can't travel to Germany, learn German, mention Germany or the war, as there are still Nazi sympathisers there....you can imagine what my response would be......

I'd have asked him which newspapers he reads, which website he visits, where does he do his shopping, does he watch sky or have anything whatsoever to do with the Sun indirectly. Then lambast him for doing so and watch him squirm. He'd still find a reason to be on the higher ground.

I guess most of the people working for the Sun 30 years ago have moved on so it is a different beast now. So, indirectly speaking, it's not the same as 30 years ago.

I think Robbie made a mistake chasing their money though.

Yeah, he probably did....but only if he feels a sanctimonious
backlash may occur and harm his brand - then it would have been prudent to say no - but Jesus, if we've got to worry about hurting the feelings of some people over every single thing we do in life - nothing would EVER get done FFS.

As for The Sun...Kelvin Mckensie was still there up to the point where he compared Ross Barkley to a gorilla (if you believe he actually did that)....but most of the people there as you say, probably weren't old enough to even have seen that event, never mind have an opinion on it.

Wonder who he banks with? Wonder if he's such a lefty socialist (probably being from Liverpool) that chooses an ethical bank to bank with, one that has never robbed people of their pensions or had to be bailed out by the tax payers who never even banked there??

Robbie was right though, he made a mistake and everybody does. I think he may have got a little carried away with his success, fame and money to properly think this through.
