City v Palace - Live Thread

Post by blueboy on Sat May 06, 2017 9:53 am

First topic message reminder :

Big game today....no Silva, Stones or Aguero. Silva's a big miss at the moment, so we need the likes of Sterling, Sane and KDB to step up.

Gabriel should start, so we need to take our chances early today.

Line-up? Will he start with Navas at RB again to counter Zaha's pace? Probably.

We need to move that out of MF much more quickly than we have been doing. Can TLMLF being back in MF alongside Fernandinho.

Willy
Navas, Vinny, Ota, Clichy
TLMLF, Ferna
Sterling, KDB, Sane
Gabriel

Dodged a potential banana skin there. Leicester City could be tricky, but if Watford are safe on the last day 3rd place is ours.

Well done Pep....after everything that's been aimed at you...that's how football should be played. Give me that every day of the week....a joy to watch.

Big save from Willy today to keep it 1-0.

KDB took up the mantle after Silva went off, absolutely class.

Sterling and Sane kill teams with their pace. However, Sane really does need to improve his final ball and stop shooting straight at the keeper...he could easily have had 4 goals today.

Felt sorry for Gabriel...he got himself in some glorious positions, the final ball just wasn't delivered to him.

Well done guys....great performance.

great all round performance but clichy & Otamendi were outstanding both did not put a foot wrong all game & credit to willy made an important save at a crucial time. Good to see Vinny getting a run of games under his belt & the greatest gift of all was Merlin in the starting line up.

Not getting carried away dawg but we are very quick to criticize when things have gone badly so lets enjoy for a change when things go right.

Couldn't agree more....what are we supposed to do...just celebrate a brilliant performance, only if it's a cup final or a game that wins us the league? As Oz said...too many times this season, people have been on the teams back and in particular the Manager's back, when we've drawn games we should have won by at least 4 goals....so when we actually put everything together, against a team that has beaten 3 of the top 5 including Chelsea - and 5-0...think it's time some stop thinking about the slating they've given Pep and admit that his formula is delicious to watch when done correctly. Yes, it was against Palace...yes, we need to do that against the likes of Chelsea and Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal....but nearly all of those games we lost or drew, we were by far the better team.

Only EFC and Leicester were the really disappointing performances.

He'll get it right and when he does....the rest of the PL better watch out.

Oh, and also agree...Clichy was excellent today. As for Otamendi, think I've said over the past few games, he's really stepped up with Vinny next to him.

And Dawg, that comment about Pep, wasn't directed towards you....it's a generic comment to lots on here who have questioned him in his first season at the club.

Most enjoyable game while eating a bacon and egg sarni.  Love Silva - we are lucky to have had him for 5 years now - never any gossip or uncertainty about his commitment to the club.  Everybody stepped up today - keep it up for the next 3 matches please.

MOTD giving us their usual impartial view. Oh wait!!....the critique was all about these 3 things:

1. How KDB played well but should score more goals.
2. How poor Palace's defending was...because BFS made that excuse.
3. How Otamendi 'defended' brilliantly.

They really are patheticly overt with their hatred for City.

Agree Blue

How could we have possibly battered a team that has just beaten his beloved looserpool

The only explanation could be that  palace didn't play as well against us.

No...they said he had been given stick during this season at times, however, since Kompany has come in, he's been rock solid. He did have another very good game yesterday and Clichy was excellent as well. If anything, apart from his goal, Kompany was the one who kept trying to dive in and got skinned on several occasions.

The highlights video I posted showed more than MOTD....honestly, any praise was given through gritted teeth. It was all about how poor Palace were, rather than giving City the credit for blowing Palace away in a game which we could have had 10 goals if the final ball made it to a City player.

City v Middlesborough was the ONLY match that was not shown over here last week.  I was so pissed off.  Glad to see that Milner missed his penalty today.

I'm sure I didn't miss much Oz - but it was very frustrating trying to watch online - and could not understand why it wasn't on as there were TV channels available to show it on.

Congrats to the Seagulls Oz - although they slipped up today and let the geordies take the title.  The Owls have made the playoffs again - will have to beat Huddersfield though and then the winner of Reading v Fulham.  I still don't think they are ready for the Prem - but obviously will be supporting them.

Glad the Rags lost - good result although a draw would have been the optimum for us.  One last thing - watching Kieran Gibbs today - thought he looked just like Posh Spice in profile Laughing never noticed the likeness before.

Rags lose, dippers can only draw and we get a massive win!  Happy days!  It was worth making my dodgy knee worse going to see such a cracking display.

I thought Sane was disappointing, he drifted in and out of the game too much.  Sterling worked hard, but I think he could do more.  But Spanish Dave, how the hell are we going to replace him?  For an hour or so, he was pulling all the strings.  What a player he is.

I have to say, in Palace's defence, at least they tried to play football against us, unlike that shower of shite we had last Thursday.  Like a bus depot, they were.
