How sad....
that this is Zab's last season with us. He scored the first goal in the QPR match when we won the league and he's been such a warrior - I know there was another post somewhere about him but wanted to add my bit. He's been a big part of the City team for years and he's a fan favourite - yes?

Re: How sad....
Absolutely gutted beyond belief. A little disappointed in the club that they didn't give him 10 years...but maybe he'll get a testimonial when the season ends??

Reading all the tributes on social media brought tears to my eyes...like this one though:
Always be yourself
Unless you can be Pablo Zabaleta
Then always be Pablo Zabaleta

Re: How sad....
Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta will end his nine-year spell with the club in the summer, the Premier League side have confirmed.
The 32-year-old Argentinian, who joined City from Espanyol in 2008, is out of contract in July.
City's third longest-serving player after Joe Hart and Vincent Kompany, Zabaleta has made more than 300 appearances for the club, winning two Premier League titles, two League Cups and an FA Cup.
A statement released by City said: "Pablo has informed the club he will move to pastures new, but leave behind many happy memories.
"Fans will have the opportunity to show their appreciation for one of the club's most loyal and loved servants of recent times against West Brom on Tuesday evening, which will be Pablo's last home appearance."
Zabaleta has started 22 games in all competitions this season for Pep Guardiola's side. Early reports are linking him with a move to West Ham.
Yaya Toure, Jesus Navas, Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna and Willy Caballero are among the other City players who are out of contract this summer.
City captain Kompany tweeted: "Battling together for 9 years. Massive respect to @pablo--zabaleta. True warrior and Man City legend. #ManCity #OnceABlueAlwaysABlue".

CITY STATEMENT ON ZABALETA
The 58-times capped Argentina international is out of contract in the summer and has informed the club he will move to pastures new, but leave behind many happy memories.Fans will have the opportunity to show their appreciation for one of the club’s most loyal and loved servants of recent times against West Brom on Tuesday evening, which will be Pablo’s last home appearance.
Though there are a number of first-team player contracts currently under consideration, Pablo's situation is the only one that has been fully finalised.
One of the most popular players of recent times, Pablo has been a firm crowd favourite with the City supporters who have resonated with his passion, heart and willingness to put his body on the line time and time again.
With 332 appearances made since his bargain £6.5m move from Espanyol, Zaba joined City the day before it was announced Sheikh Mansour was the Club’s new owner.
Only Joe Hart and Vincent Kompany have been with the Blues longer - Hart signing in 2006 and Kompany having joined just nine days earlier than the Argentinian.
He made his debut for City in September 2008 – the same day as fellow new arrival Robinho – as Chelsea triumphed 3-1 at the Etihad. He scored his first goal against Wigan Athletic in January 2009.
By that point, the tough-tackling right-back had already cemented his place in the fans’ hearts and would remain a crowd idol throughout his time at the Etihad.

Re: How sad....
I think the best City could offer him would have been a 12 month extension. West Ham seem to be offering 2 years at £100k per week. He's in the twilight of his career and is probably taking one last big payday before going back to Argentina.

Re: How sad....
I agree with Esteemed Kompany, when he says it somehow feels a little different to Hart or even if Vinny left - he's been the heartbeat of the club for so many years; in the fans hearts:

Re: How sad....
I'm sure he'd have stayed had he been guaranteed games. That is the true greatness of the guy whilst he believes he still has something to offer he will play for whoever gives him a starting shirt. Good luck to him a brilliant servant & whoever he plays for will be getting a true gem of a guy.
Will be sorely missed by me & forever grateful to have seen him grace the blue that is Manchester City...

Re: How sad....
Have you guys had that feature film "The Noisy Neighbours" over there? Zab said that the reason he's bald was because of the Premier League title match against QPR - ha ha

Re: How sad....
Yeah that's probably it - it's excellent - cameos from Nedum, DeJong, Joey Barton (laugh) etc. All the commentators are on from ESPN/Fox - and highlights the Queens Park title race game and UTd's match with Sunderland. It's quite a good watch - still gives you goosebumps. Even Mark Hughes is on.

Re: How sad....
I've just watched it tonight too. It was on City TV (Foxtel here) after the City v West Brom game. Was a good watch Only ones not interviewed from the City team were Tevez, Nasri & Yaya. Not sure if it was what Wensdi watched as I only saw Hughes as he walked into the away dressing room before the game & didn't see anything of the scum v Sunderland. Not sure if it is the actual documentary they have been filming but it lasted about 45 mins.

Re: How sad....
Doesn't sound like it Oz - Silva, Kolarov etc., were not interviewed. Hughes was definitely interviewed. Ian Darke, Martin Tyler and Peter Drury were the main commentators on it. About a 50 minute slot plus commercials.

Re: How sad....
Watched again tonight wensdi . It is definitely different from the one u described. I don't think it is the 93.20 one advertised either because watching the trailer for that shows Martin Tyler & Mancini with his trademark scarf although the players in the interview I saw were wearing the same clothing so it may be a watered down version on city tv I saw. They did have Joey Barton & Nedum Onuoha in it.
