Will it be a disater if we don't get another CB?

It's all gone rather quiet in the Bonucci and van Dijk front. Got me thinking. Would it really be a disaster if we didn't get another CB and went into the season with Kompany, Otamendi, Stones and Kolarov?

Hear me out here. We looked far more solid with Kompany playing with Otamendi (I'm sure we'd look far more solid if Kompany played with Stones or Kolarov too). But that's also the big risk relying on Kompany. If he gets injured again, we're left with those three, and they won't fill any City fan with confidence.

But the City hierarchy have dropped a clanger here. We've recruited Mangala, Otamendi and Stones as big CB buys over the last three seasons. They've cost us well over £120M which would have been enough to buy two top class CBs. But there's no way to turn back time now.

I also think we'll improve with the new full backs we seem likely to get (Walker and Mendy/Bertrand).

I don't think it would be a total disaster if we don't recruit another top class CB but I think it could well dash our chances of winning the league and progressing deep into the CL.

Agreed I don't think it would be a disaster as long as we sign the full back positions that we so desperately need.

whilst Kompany is fit I have no qualms at all. But once he is out of the equation we do not have a leader who can martial the back four. this is where bonucci would come into his own imo. Not sure about van dijk as a leader but love his all round ability in the air on the deck &his coolness under pressure.i still think we should get Bonucci or van dijk if the price is right.

Wouldn't pay £70m for Van Dijk....it's laughable. Think he's OK, but for that price, Soton are taking the piss. He's a £25m player - tops.

I think we need another CB...it's imperative for me, regardless of the full backs. We can't count on Kompany being fit all season and the thought of Stones and Otamendi at CB, fills me with dread.

Yes think it would be a disaster. Just can't rely on Vinny and the others just aren't good enough IMO. We've just struggled at the back for the last couple of seasons even with our 120 million spent so please let's sort it out for this season otherwise we will once again be also rans
Definitely Bonucci for me. As Bluey says Saints are taking the piss & Loserpool will be mugged off for 60million plus, not that it will shut Aldridge & the rest of the Dipper scum up about Sterling even tho they obviously broke rules on tapping up

PL have come out and said LFC won't be punished for the tapping up.

You can guarantee if it was us, we'd have been punished.

How about giving Denayer a chance finally too? Or is simply on the way out?

I think he's gone. Only 2 years ago he was partnering Van Dijk at Celtic.
