16yo tasered
Previous
A schoolboy was Tasered bypolice after locking his mum out of the
house. The 16-year-old boy was shot with the controversial stun gun by
an officer responding to a 999 call from his mother.
The officer is now under investigation by Greater Manchester
Police Professional Standards Branch and the incident has been referred
to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
The teenager, who was in the middle of his GCSEs at the time of
the incident in Wythenshawe, said he did not act aggressively towards
the officers. He said: “I came out, held my hands up and said ‘I want to
negotiate with my mum’.
“The next moment they all jumped on me. There was a scuffle and
they tried to throw me to the ground but I wouldn’t go down so they
Tasered me. I didn’t know what was happening.”
His mother, who did not want herself or her son to be named,
called police after the pair had rowed and he refused to let her back
into the house in Aldfield Road, Northern Moor.
When officers arrived the mum says she told them her son's age and name.
He eventually agreed to come out after he says officers threatened to call for back up.
After he was shot with the Taser, neighbours watched as the
youngster was bundled into the back of a police vehicle in handcuffs and
was taken into custody.
He was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer but
was never charged and has since been told there will be no further
action against him.
His mum said: "I thought they would just get him out of the house and take him to his sisters or something to calm down.
"I was shocked at the response. They took him to the police
station and when I rang up they told me I couldn't go and see him. I
said 'I didn't expect this he's only 16."
The boy said he has been left feeling 'confused' and has been suffering anxiety and panic attacks ever since.
The youngster completed his GCSEs, achieving 7 A*-C grades and is about to start a college course.
His mum added: "I think it's disgusting. He's not a bad lad - he's never been in trouble before. I want an apology."
The family are now considering whether to take legal action against GMP.
A spokesman for GMP said: “Police were called following reports
of a domestic dispute. Officers attended and, while arresting a
16-year-old boy, a Taser was deployed.
“He was arrested on suspicion of assaulting two police officers.
The CPS later decided that no further action would be taken against the
boy.
“A GMP Professional Standards Branch investigation is ongoing
into the circumstances surround the use of a Taser during the arrest.
“In line with protocol, it was referred to the IPCC and the PSB investigation is being supervised by them.”
A spokesman for the IPCC said: "The IPCC can confirm it received a
referral in relation to this incident and has decided to supervise the
investigation by Greater Manchester Police's Professional Standards
Branch."

PPLF, report i read doesn't indicate he is a naughty boy.
arrested on suspicion of assaulting police officers, but no charge? from having several police officers see the event to not enough evidence to prosecute? smells fishy to me.

Re: 16yo tasered
Probably were over the top but it looks like a media spin to make the police look like thugs when I can't believe the lad hasn't been overly aggressive to get tasared. No doubt it will all come out in the wash

Re: 16yo tasered
Sorry fella's but I'm with PPLF on this one. I'm not naive enough to think that our Police forces are whiter than white, but I don't believe the above account of the incident is remotely accurate.
Just because he hasn't been charged doesn't mean he did nothing wrong

Re: 16yo tasered
You can't be too sure with his type, perhaps the community would be better off if he was sentanced to death.

Re: 16yo tasered
I think all 16 year olds should be culled unless they went to a decent public school.
