Erik Palmer-Brown

Post by blueboy on Mon Sep 11, 2017 11:13 am

MANCHESTER CITY have completed the signing of highly-rated American Erik Palmer-Brown.
According to reports in the US, the Sporting Kansas City defender has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal to move to the Etihad when his contract expires next summer.
The 20-year-old has played in Major League Soccer and was captain of the US Under-2o team that got to the quarter-final of the U20 World Cup earlier this summer.
Man City boss Pep Guardiola is said to have beaten a host of rivals to Palmer-Brown’s signature.
Paris Saint-Germain, PSV Eindhoven and Ajax were among a number of clubs said to be interested.
Palmer-Brown is a Kansas native who came through their academy before making his MLS debut in 2014.
He has been a regular in the first-team squad, although he does not start often.
Palmer-Brown, who also spent a year on loan with Porto’s B team in 2016, has played 18 MLS games since his debut.
Sporting Kansas City coach Peter Vermes was clearly disappointed with the youngster's decision to leave so soon.
He told the Kansas City Star: "He came to us and said there might be an opportunity.
"I said to him, 'Look, if that’s what you want to do, then we’ll support you,'.
"He’s played out his contract. It’s happened with other guys.
"It’s just one of those situations."
Vermes added: "We believed we made him a very good offer in MLS."

BORUSSIA DORTMUND have secured the services of England youth international Denzeil Boadu.
The 20-year-old is following in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho, who completed a £9million move to BVB earlier this summer.
Boadu will now proudly sport the number 30 shirt for Dortmund’s under-23 side. He officially completed the deal on 30 August.
Boadu’s England international team-mate Sancho completed a switch to Germany last month following a summer of uncertainty.
Sancho turned down a whopping £30,000-a-week offer from Pep Guardiola to pursue first-team football abroad.
After falling out of favour at Manchester City, the f0rmer Arsenal ace will now face fresh challenges in the Bundesliga.
Despite an injury-hit campaign with the Citizens, Boadu quickly progressed through the ranks of the academy and asserted himself as one of the game’s most exciting young prospects.
The England international recently overcame a career threatening injury after fearing he would never walk again.
Following a catalogue of surgeries and a daily cocktail of antibiotics, the youngster managed to push through the injury and return to match fitness after 20 months out of action.
The 20-year-old admitted that the injury has had a profound impact on him.
BVB posted a player profile of the youngster onto their club website following his switch.
Boadu is renowned for his exquisite passing ability and his relentless work rate.

Erik Palmer-Brown. I'm guessing he'll make a really good name for himself as he propels a Championship team into the top flight next season, just as Aaron Mooy did last year.
