Franny Lee...."best football I've ever seen at City"
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4893534/This-best-football-ve-seen-Man-City.html
Next year is the 50th anniversary of Malcolm Allison and Joe Mercer's title-winning Manchester City team which featured Colin Bell and Mike Summerbee and me.
This Pep Guardiola team, though, is the best level of football I have ever seen from City and it is only going to get better. When I was chairman at the club in the 1990s, we were nearly bankrupt.
I always joke that we kept digging up the practice ground looking for an oil well! Look at us now - City are playing at an unbelievable level and it's mesmerising to watch. Our 1968 side were very good and we played open, attractive football but it was direct.
With Pep, they are happier to go around the houses and the football is sublime. I'd love to have played under him - every player past or present would say the same. Fifteen goals in one week is stunning.
This is what we all hoped for when Pep arrived. Last season we saw glimpses but there were issues with consistency and some players struggled to cope with his demands. Now they have all the ingredients.
I wouldn't be surprised if they won one, two or even three trophies. As Arthur Daley said in the comedy Minder, the world's your lobster! However, things can go wrong quickly and all of a sudden the goals dry up.
You need some luck to win big trophies. I can imagine how those Watford players felt on Saturday. I played against Holland when Johan Cruyff was the king. That is the closest you get to a Guardiola team.
They always had a spare man and you can end up running around like headless chickens chasing the ball. City now look peerless all over the pitch. Ederson in goal has solved last year's long-standing problem.
Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva provide the ammunition and Sergio Aguero is now two goals away from matching Eric Brook's all-time record of 177 goals for the club.
The difference is that Eric did it over 12 years and scored his goals in 493 appearances. Sergio is within two of him but in only six years and 259 games, so really he's already the best.
Jimmy Greaves was a fantastic predator back in my day. He scored more than 350 goals in the top flight and on today's pitches with today's balls he'd have scored over 450. It's the same with Denis Law.
Sergio is up there alongside them, among the greats, and I hope this team now scale the heights, too.
