Before then, Pep's full presser. Spurs win 4-0, Rags winning 3-0.

Absolutely, he was determined to try and make something of the Aguero incident but Pep dealt with him brilliantly

Team News:

Ederson
Walker, Stones, Ota, Delph
Ferna
Sterling, Silva, KDB, Sane
Jesus

So, standard 4-1-4-1

No surprises.

Subs: Bravo, Gundo, Danilo, Manga, Bernardo, Zinchenko, TLMLF

Zinchenko for LB role???? Seems odd he's in ahead of Foden and Brahim.

Wow...massive stats against a good CFC team. BUT....Gabriel has done pretty much fuck all once again. He needs to seriously pull his finger out.

Sane not in this game either. It's all Sterling, KDB and Silva.

The cross Sterling made into a gap of 6 feet....Silva and Gabriel have to be there to head that in.

We look pretty comfortable, but that's the problem at 0-0...they could easily score with a break.

Not sure what else Pep can do, unless he gets Gabriel and Sane to up their game massively.

The bench will be like for like.

Let's hope we take one of these chances.

interesting we have dominated the first half..
before the game I would have happily taken a nil nil..

it is interesting the one player on the pitch who seems off the game for us is Jesus...
we have been playing tactics from start of last season with full backs pulling in and not overlapping. change that back at half time, maybe Danilo on or Walker and we should have this.
Moratta going off helps us. he was their out ball and did look pretty good every time it went to him.

good first half with everything considered.

Sane looks to be doing his job as given, he is being closely marked today by the looks of it.
Jesus is getting covered by a centre half every minute.

We have Barnado on the bench would bring him on for Sane whos run himself ragged last few games. Jesus has a better understanding with Kun, but its the 2nd game where he has been a little off form. I think teams are now targeting him thats the problem with having only one front man, but its allowed Sterling more influence.

Re: Chelsea v City - Live Thread

Yep, Morata looked decent on the ball. The problem I see, is that he'll push Willian on Delph, bring off Bakayako and shove Batshuayi up front where they'll have more width. That's the one thing that could cause us real problems.

I'd be more hopeful if Sane and Gabriel were more in this game....let's hope they are in the 2nd half, as Sane has left Delph pretty exposed in the first half and thankfully, they've not taken advantage of it through slow play. Willian wide might be a different kettle of fish....so we must take any chances that come our way.

We deserved the win, glad the goal was from open play not from a penalty. No red cards of dodgy ref decisions for a change.

Jesus really upped his game 2nd half. To be fair to him though he closed down a lot in the 1st half & was feeding on scraps, my only criticism of him would have been to be a bit stronger in trying to hold up the ball in the 1st half. Ref was pretty sound missed a few snidey tackles by the Chelsea back line but all in all did ok. Again with Sane, when it is obvious there is no free kick coming play to the whistle. All in all a great overall performance but we better watch out with that dodgy defence of ours that pundits & journalists love to remind us about!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My player performances, for what it's worth:

Ederson - absolutely immense. Brilliant with his feet and hands. 8

Walker - looked a little shaky in the first half, but really did  well attacking their defence in the second half. 7

Stones - just gets better and better. Very controlled, lots of organisation at the back. Vinny who? 8

Otamendi - went unnoticed again, but did his job well. Better passing out from the back. 7

Delph - wow, a completely controlled performance. Would have a 9, only for giving their wide player one or two chances to cross early, but overall, excellent. 8.5

Fernandinho - did all the dirty work once again and was magnificent today, breaking up play, passing excellent, making the right fouls at the right time. Over-looked by many pundits. 9

Silva - run out of superlatives for this player. Brilliant passing and tackling to win the ball back. 8

Sterling - brilliant in the first half, done the dirty stuff when needed in the second half. 8

Sane - not his best attacking game. Did some good tracking back, but lost the ball too much today when one on one. 7

Jesus - worked his socks off, but looks like he needs Aguero with him to see the best of him. Not been great for a few games now, but a difficult day today against 3 good defenders. 7.5

KDB - what a performance. He would have liked that goal as well against his former club. Simply brilliant. 9

Subs - all get 7 for doing nothing wrong.

Pep - spot on tactics which were very clever today to nullify Hazard and Fabregas by making Delph and Walker come inside when they had the ball.  9

Brilliant overall.

Yeah noticed that Pep singled him out for praise yet again. After facing a decent attacking team from the CL & one of the best teams in the PL I think we can say Delph can do a job at LB.

What's looking good, is that we can blow teams away when we need to and yet still dominate very good teams, have huge amounts of possession and keep a clean sheet.

Brilliant what Pep has done this season.
