Troy Deeney face gouge

the Ref couldn’t have seen this and Deeney fully deserves a 3 match ban. I’d go as far as saying certain incidents deserve a 5 match ban, or more. Not sure if this is one of them though, but it really is nasty what he did.

Saw Garth Crooks on BBC website saying the clamour to get retrospective ban for Deeney is unjust, if the ref chose not to report it then that should be the end of the matter. OK? so if he gouges & damages a players eye then that's ok?

from the pics in the papers, looks like Allen squared him up and he literally picked him up by the face, pressing thumbs into his cheek..
not really a gauge in the sens you see rugby players doing in the dirt.
Should have been a red card still, so he should get a 3 game ban from it and move on..

Do you remember Fernandinho on Fabgregas.....and he got a red card.
If Deeney doesn't get at least 3 games for that - then it makes a mockery of the review system. You can't grab players by the head and squeeze your thumbs into his cheeks then lift him off the floor....

But was that Shawcross putting his head into Deeney? He could get a red as well.
Nothing wrong with squaring up to a player - Young and Alli on Saturday...it's when you move your head to an opponents head that they cross the line, and grabbing someones head or face, is clearly a straight red card.

And, I do believe, that the rules have been changed so it doesn’t necessarily have to be in the refs report anymore. Heard that on the radio or tv
