Sane’s absence and would you play him against West Ham?

Post by Topdawg on Thu Nov 30, 2017 12:17 pm

Reports are that Sane was ill with a 24 hr bug yesterday.
He’ll be fine for the weekend, but is only one yellow card away from a suspension.
Would you risk playing him against the hammers or save him for United?

He makes such a difference to our team with his blistering pace and his hugging of the touch line. It helps make space for other midfielders to do their stuff. But we should be beating West Ham with a shadow team.

My philosophy is always the same. Start the strongest team and try and get a 2 or 3 goal lead before resting  players

Start him, but off as soon as we get control.. absolutely no risks against west ham..

Go in all guns blazing, get a lead and then rest crucial players on yellow or who just need the rest.

Actually, according to the PL stats, Sane only has 3 yellow cards. Hope that list is up to date!

Otamendi 5
Kompany 4
Fernandinho 4
Sané 3

So the question changes. Would you rest Kompany and/or Fernandinho? If we were 3-0 up at HT, I'd take the pair of them off and replace them with Bernado and Mangala.

Start him instead of Sterling....Sterling only need to come on for the last 5 minutes.lol
I'd rest KDB against the Hammers too, give Gundogan a start.

We really should be taking a shadow team to Ukraine (stuff Napoli) so every essential player gets a little extra rest.

Maybe rest Kev for the Hammers then? Play Dave and Gundogan?

I'd rest them both.  West Ham are shockingly bad and we should be able to beat them with our second string. Or the women's team. Or the EDS.  Or the under 15's.  Hell, we could beat them with a pub team. A pub darts team.

But seriously, ooking at that Hammers side, we don't really need to focus too much on playing our very best side as I reckon most of those who played last night would turn them over and all we really need to do is bag the three points.  Unless we want to have a return to goal scoring form, in which case I think the PL record 9-0 scoreline might be under serious threat.  No, I'm happy to beat them with a modest scoreline, because the team I want us to tear apart is the rags, and we need our very best players fit and ready for that.

Kompany always raises himself up for the derby and, as captain and longest serving player, he'd be best placed to ensure everyone and his dog is up for it.  Dino can keep Carlton Pogba quiet (which I suspect may not be too hard, but I'd rather not run the risk).  But we'd not be able to do either if they're banned because of a silly yellow card or two against a team they don't need to be up against.

Against west ham as stated we can use Gundogan & Mangala they should be quite easily competent enough to do a job. Without changing too much we could rest KDB who has looked a little jaded recently & bring in Bernardo or even Foden as again they should have enough to beat west Ham. all of those I suggested can only get better with more game time too so for me it is a no brainer.

I wouldnt risk Vinny We just cant have Mango & Otto for the game against the scum. All the others can hopefully take it easy if we can get a couple of early goals.
I reckon the Hammers will play with 11 behind the ball now. They wont want another battering like at Everton & both Huddersfield and Saints have shown the way on how we can be kept quieter. Sane is a must if he's fit !

I dont think the hammers are going to be the walkover that everyone seems to think it is. As TMg says they will have 11 behind the ball & if we dont score early it could be another nearly run thing & I'm not sure that Sterling can bail us out evry game.

the hammers must have gone to Everton trying to win. (with Moyes inn charge I'm not sure).

They'll be only thinking about defending and trying ti get out of Manchester with a point.

Arsenal showed what an early goal can do against bus parkers last night.

If Gundogan is coming in for Ferdy...he better be a millions times better than he was last night! Awful.
