Going back 17 years...City are the only team to have won the PL and never had a POTY. Bale and Gerrard have won it, even though neither have ever won the PL title.

More POTY come from teams that have won the title. For those who won the POTY outside of the team who won the title, mostly, it's down to their goal tally.

Top 3 PL scorers this season:

Mo Salah - 2393 mins played. 28 goals, 9 assists, 85 mins per goal.

Harry Kane - 2442 mins played. 24 goals, 2 assists, 102 mins per goal.

Aguero - 1955 mins played. 21 goals, 6 assists, 93 mins per goal. (438 mins played less than Salah - that's over 5 games!).

So when City win the league the POTY goes to the leagues top scorer.....so as Tbw said, Salah's nailed on for it then.

The Players Player was voted for bu early Feb, so KDB could get that. Writers POTY is done at the end of the season, so if Salah keeps going like he's going, and Sergio doesn't catch him, then you can only see Salah getting that.

Before Watford, Salah was averaging about 96 minutes per goal. You can argue he's a winger and doesn't take penalties etc. and that should be taken into account.

So, if Aguero scores a hat trick in his next game, and Salah doesn't score in his, Sergio has fewer minutes per goal again. Would the Liverpool crowd, and plenty in the media, say that Aguero should get POTY?

Sergio would have to go on an almighty scoring run for the rest of the season to be in with a shout.
