City valuation

Post by Topdawg on Sun Mar 18, 2018 7:53 pm

reading that city sold 1% in the holding company (CFG) to CMC for £72.9M in 2016.

That would value CFG at an enormous £7.29 Bn

I’ll try and find some more info on this as it’s more than double what I previously believed.

CFG valuation is approx £2.4b. Sheikh Mansour owns £2b (86%) of that with CMC the rest.

For a £1.3b investment so far, that's some nice profit for the owner of a football group in 10 years.

bluey, you've taken the valuation that someone else has supplied.

I'd question the £7.29B that I calculated in the same way I'd question the £2.4B mentioned.

I suspect the real value is somewhere above £3B

Well of course I have. I'm not CFG's accountant, so any figures published, with the exception of theirs, is somebody else's - just like yours.  Razz Razz Razz

No, my number are my numbers.

Without an exact number of shares disposed of, I can't make a more accurate valuation (I haven't looked since last night so don't know if anymore information is available).

So I'm guessing you both on Twitter, ended up agreeing that the valuation is approx £2.2b?

£200m off the original post you berated, £800m+ off your valuation.  Razz Razz Razz Razz

If I had a picture of my arse, I'd post it now.

That valuation was for sometime in 2016. We are much more valuable now, especially as our revenues are going to go through the roof soon with this new Puma deal, our share of the CL TV money, the PL tv deal and all our other new sources of income.

I'm comfortable with my current valuation of £3B.

But you didn't say that to Prestwich Blue on Twitter.  Very Happy

And what you're talking about is all 'if's and but's'...  Wink

I said his valuation was wrong based upon his argument (look at this race horse analogy).

And it's not ifs and buts as we are getting more PL tv money and more CL tv money and we will soon get a new kit deal. All are significantly higher than in the past which will add massively  to the valuation of the club.

Maybe in 2016 it was worth £2.2B, but I reckon, and it's only a guess, that we're closer to being worth £3B now.

Though that doesn't make much difference to you or I.

I think we need to meet up if only to get my season card back or I won't be getting to see the game!

I’ve got a parking pass at the ground then drop you back off after?
