Who said this....

Post by Topdawg on Thu Mar 29, 2018 8:52 pm

Comments made at the end of August, but by who? (each paragraph represents a different contributor)

1. At the start of the season, I was looking for a challenge for the title, a top 2 or 3 finish but showing a dramatic improvement over last season. I wanted us to go further in the CL as we should not be getting knocked out in the first knockout stage. I wanted a better showing in both cups. We simply should be winning some silverware this season.
Right now, I'd still take top 3, QF in the CL and any cup.

2. I would like to think with a stronger squad than last year we should be looking at a really good assault on the champs league & the premier league. Silverware  is a must. From a personal point of view another premier league win would be great...

3. I never expect anything with City but we should be looking at top 2 in the league a 1/4 final in the CL and cup final. Any trophy would be nice

4. Personally, I've been more impressed with Danilo than I have with Walker.
another CDMF is needed as Fernandinho is on the downward spiral for me and has been for some time.

I'd be disappointed if we didn't win anything this season, but PL is the priority for me and at least a QF/SF in the CL...plus a cup would be good. So a double for me this season would be good.

Basically, most people wanted a cup, a challenge for the title and a q/f at least in the CL.

On that basis, most of us should be happy.

OK...Dawg clearly wants to have a little dig at me and I know why.

You see - the title of the thread was You're Expectations. Notice how he posts 3 people's expectations, but adds another part of my comments (4 was me and so was the last paragraph)

These comments were made at the end of Aug after 3 games.

At the time, I thought Danilo had done well - feel free to read the live match threads. I would have stuck with him on his then form. Obviously, Walker has gone on to have a great season.

As for Fernandinho - he did have an average season last season. He looked leggy in games - however, for whatever reason, he's put in a blinding season so far.

However, let's just add a little more from that thread, that Dawg selectively didn't include...people wrote quite a lot in their comments - not just what Dawg chose to copy and paste into this one.

Dawg said this: I can see Gundogan slipping easily into the pivot role when he gets properly fit again which should be in two weeks time. That would call time on Fernandinho and Yaya.

And we still could do with that top notch striker who takes his chances more often than not. Sergio isn't getting and younger, fitter or faster and just isn't clinical enough for us.

Your reply about Walker:

Danilo looks like he has a pass on him. Walker has immense pace but I'm not sure his end product is all that yet.

So....there you go. Now, let me spend an hour digging through comments about Joe Hart, Pep being a Fraud etc...and add all them into a "who said this" Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz

You really are all touchy today. I just picked on things people said. Usually it's only you and me that say extra stuff and I'm hardly gonna take the piss out of myself!!!

I was wondering why you were taking so long to reply precious! Razz:P:P

I'll still say that Danilo has a pass in him, Walker could do better (and is doing better) with his end product but he still gets a little too excited and Sergio isn't getting any younger. I'll still maintain that he isn't clinical enough. When Sterling is your most clinical striker (in terms of goals per shots) then you know something is odd.

Contradiction again! You posted this on the other post:

It was not meant to show anyone up; just to show what our expectations were at the start of the season and that they really have been surpassed.

But then on this one, said this:

I'm hardly gonna take the piss out of myself!!!

To be fair I don’t think Danilo is a terrible right back, just not as good as Walker who on current form is probably the best in the PL.

I would say each and every one of us has had our expectations enhanced or dashed at some point during the season. We love getting a dig in at the so called experts when their prediction or forecasts go awry. Savage wouldn't pay to watch debruynne, Thompson saying silva is too lightweight for the premier league. Every year the previous years league winner is a favourite to win again but rarely happens. We are after all only human.

Yep Oz. However, i don't post 'posts' to point score. Hence my replies. I said I would be disappointed if we don't win the league, a cup and a long run in the CL.

However, I was pretty clear when Hart was binned off that Pep knew what he was doing. I also was very positive about Pep last season when others were slagging him off...some calling him Fraudiola!

I have a right to reply. It's not 'touchy'...just a bit of replied-banter.

Bring it on I say...this International break has been like pulling teeth!! A bit of Forum banter is always welcome...as long as all parties are happy with it.Laughing

If it's good enough for the goose.

Anyway, first quote was me. 2nd was Oz, 3rd Was Tony and the 4th was.....well, we all knew who that was already!!!

But I will agree that Fernandinho has surprised me by how good he's been. And Yaya has surprised me by how bad he's been.
