Team vs rags

Post by Topdawg on Mon Apr 02, 2018 3:22 am

Watching the cricket. 10 minutes between innings so I thought about the team we might out out against Utd.

Unless we hammer the dippers, it has to be a 2nd string team.

Ederson
Danilo, Stones, Laporte, Delph/Zinky
Gundogan, Yaya, Delph/Zinky/Foden
Bernardo, Jesus, Sterling

I thought about Mendy for LB. would be awesome if he’s  ready in time

Can I ask....

1. Why would we swap keepers?

2. Why play a kid when we have Aguero or Jesus to start, or even play with a false 9, in potentially, the biggest derby in years?

There's absolutely no way, Pep will play a bunch of kids against United.

We have senior pros for every position in this squad.

it depends on the first leg with liverpool.

there is no way Pep will risk anybody he wants to play against liverpool second leg?

I'd play Bernardo and Sterling against the rags as only one of them can play against Liverpool in the 2nd leg (assuming no-one is injured in the first leg)

Are you kidding? You mean he's not going to pick one single player who might play against the dippers on 10th April, 4 days later? Razz

I'm sure Pep is very much prioritising the CL...but if he played a team full of 2nd stringers against United at home, a chance to win the PL title against the rags, breaking another record - and we lost...I'm not sure the players, never mind the fans would be too chuffed.

Agree...it'll probably all depend on Weds night's result.

Don't get what I'm reading here. Imo should go with the strongest possible team, in the hope of battering them 10 nil and winning the league.

They'll all be on such a high after that they'll batter the dippers straight after.

Not beating the rags and winning the title, could well leave the team feeling a tad flatish. They'll pick themselves up for the 2nd leg against the dippers regardless, but it'd be far betting going into it on a high by smashing the rags.

I think we'll know more after Weds, but there's 4 days between the rags and the 2nd leg....wouldn't surprise me seeing one or two changes...but that would be it. And as Dawg said, it could be between Bernardo and Sterling and possibly Gundogan/Silva/KDB...and LB.

Rags will kick us off the park though to damage chances against dippers.  I say give them their 0-0 that they will be coming for.  Win it against Spuddies.

If we lose against the rags, we can't win it against Spurs.

Seems as though pep is saying players will be rested for the derby. I see it one of two ways players rested depending on the result of weds night. if the tie is in the balance then I can see a couple of star names rested, However he maybe saying this in order to prompt the moany one into picking an attacking team thinking we will be under strength. I know clutching at straws comes to mind but hopefully a 2 goal lead on weds should calm the nerves.

The Moany one will always have a defensive team out because that’s how his teams play away against the top 6, he could pick 11 strikers & they would play like 11 CB’s. City watch saying pep will play a weakened side against the Rags. I don’t think that’s as bad as it sounds though because the 2nd string have come a long way in recent months. As long as he includes either D. Silva or Kevin I think we’ll be ok leave them both out of the derby & I would be worried
