Bindippers away

Post by Paulpowersleftfoot on Mon Apr 02, 2018 10:20 am

Thankfully we had a pleasant pressure free kickabout at fat sams on Saturday so we have a full squad to pick from.
Guardiola won’t change the way he sets up his teams,he doesn’t do pragmatic so we will be coming to Anfield to attack
Decisions he needs to make are whether we go 3 at the back and attack with wingbacks or a more traditional 4
Does he play Stirling who’s been intimidated each return to Anfield or does he trust him more now he’s playing with confidence
Do we go with Jesus & the greater work rate or Aguero who’s more of a goal threat?

I think we will look at getting Sane up against Alexander Arnold as much as possible so I think we will probably play Bernardo Silva more central rather than Raheem on the right wing and use Kyle walker for width on the right

Ederson
Otamendi Kompany Laporte
Walker Fernandinho DeBruyne Sane
B Silva  D Silva
JESUS

Would be my guess as a starting 11

Should be 2 great ties

I'm torn on this. We all know that Raheem hasn't had the best of games whenever he's played at Anfield. But we also know he's in the form of his career right now.

Pep has 2 options as I see it. Keep faith that he will overcome whatever it is that makes him perform poorly there...or he says to him "you're my key man for Saturday, so you're on the bench".

Could that damage his confidence? I'm sure Raheem wants to play on Weds...or will he accept he'll play against the rags and then the dippers the following Weds?

Tough one.

I like your formation with a 3 at the back....gives us an extra body in MF. My only concerns is on our left. If Mane/Salah gets beyond Sane and drags Laporte wide, one on one....could be a disaster. The same could be said of the left with Salah/Mane up against Otamendi, but I think Walker is at least more defensive minded than Sane.

What the 3 at the back does though, is give us flexibility. We can quickly shift into a 4 with Walker dropping back into RB...if it's not working.

Gonna be a great game.

Did you see yourself on MOTD?

Anyone but Liverpool and I'd have Sterling on the right. If Sterling doesn't start at Anfield, Pep will have to work on his confidence as it will matter to the kid.

But it would be good to have Sterling for the rags and the 2nd leg against Liverpool.

Aguero's injury makes it easier to pick Jesus as the spearhead of the attack.

Our LHS will be crucial with our LB being targeted and Sane our biggest threat.

Strongest team possible, but i'd play a 4-4-2 formation. Sterlings inability to perform against Liverpool away saves him to play the Rags.

.............Ederson
Walker...Otamendi...Vinny...Laporte
...............Ferdi
Bernado....KDB....Silva....Sane
.............Jesus/Serge

Saying that Sergio will only make the bench on Weds...so you can guarantee he'll play against the rags.

Will Mendy be ready for the rags???

Spanish Dave was struggling towards the end on Saturday he was stretching quite hard.  Can see him being rested against the Rags, he was sorely missed at Anfield.  With Vinnie back too it's going to be a totally different result.  Fancy 1-1 or even 1-2 but they will score.

I fancy 4-4 draw them 3-0 win on the return leg, away goal rule will be their undoing even if it’s tight
