Eden Hazard
It's reported in the Star (not a good source I know) this morning that Peps No1 target is Eden Hazard, at a cost of around £100m.
Now, there's no denying that Hazard's a great player and would be a great addition, but I can't help but think this is a non starter....as they wouldn't sell him to us and he probably wouldn't come.
That said, and for discussions sake, if we were to get him, where would he fit into our team?

Re: Eden Hazard
Why wouldn't Hazard come? Surely he'd want to play under Pep? Unless he wants a guaranteed first team place, he'd be mad not to.
As for where he'd play... He's a decent playmaker and would definitely give us support for Spanish Dave and the Ginger Prince in an area where we're otherwise lacking in creativity. And because he's just different enough, he could be used to change a game or give us an alternative, or even allow for the squad rotation we'd need to combat properly on all fronts.
That said, I'm not getting excited about player transfers until they are on the OS holding the shirt, standing next to the boss and grinning like a Cheshire cat.

Re: Eden Hazard
Chelsea sold Matic to United to help them out and they got rid of Costa who they could never easily replace. So, for the right money, they could sell to us.
I'm sure they haven't got as much money as us to spend in the transfer window so they need to keep ducking and diving in the transfer market. If they hadn't sold Ramires and Oscar to China, they wouldn't have had as much money to in the last couple of years.
Hazard would only realistically go to City, Barca or Madrid. He may be too expensive for Bayern at £100M and no Italian clubs would pay that sort of money, except maybe Juve.
Can't see Barca buying him. The issue with Madrid is the show pony.
Also depends on who the next Chelsea manager is and their transfers in the summer.
Where would he play for us? He could play anywhere across the front 3 or in behind them. But we've already got Kev, Dave and Ilkay playing there and Iniesta will be another creative player for those slots so I see him as a wide player or up front to cause problems.

Re: Eden Hazard
Tbf I did say probably wouldn't come....which is just my pessiism talking.
That said, the more I think about this the more I think it could happen. If the rumours are true, surely Pep will have told both Vinny n KDB to speak with him about coming to City either now or at the WC.
Regardless of Matic going to the Rags, I still think the stumbling block would be Chelsea selling him to us....he is by a country mile their best player.

Re: Eden Hazard
Chelsea are going to be knackered if Roman is booted out. This problematic Visa isn't going to go away anytime soon and far too much of a coincidence after Salisbury etc Could get interesting very quickly.
