What's cooking...
How about a section where we show off photos of our culinary delights (what we've cooked)?

Yes! Definitely. I was just thinking that TD.
We've got a section in off topic called 'Dinner tonight'. Could work well there.

Yeah, I've seen that. Gonna try making nimish today (saw it on Rick Stein's India). Double cream, icing sugar, saffron milk(saffron soaked in milk) and rose water.

We'll keep it with the thread for now, if it becomes more popular we can make it a sticky and if it stays popular we can create a whole section for recipes.
Sound fair?

Nothing wrong with a bit of culinary suggestions lads. Come on, if the scruffy student can get involved, you can!

Re: What's cooking...
In my scruffy student days, all I could manage was chili con carne, spaghetti bolognese and tuna bake. Largely because they were cheap and I needed money for beer. Lots of beer.
I do better than that now, but it tends to be quite rare as the kids aren't into the fancy stuff.

I'm not actually a student Leo (graduated 2011), but it's seems you oldies (no offence) seem to think anyone under the age of 28 is a student....well my Dad does anyway.
My housemates signature dish was mac n' cheese - which, despite the name was definitely not anything like mac n' cheese. It was Tesco's value pasta, tomato soup, sweetcorn and lots of cheese - in the oven for 30minutes. It actually wasn't half bad for meal that fed 3 for less than £3.

Re: What's cooking...
Bought some nice Cod yesterday, so was thinking of this - as I've not made it in ages and my lads love it......loads of salt n vinegar......and it has to be 'white Warburton's bread' n butter.

Hey! You were the one who mentioned scruffy student! I just assumed you were a youngster with a penchant for facial topiary. Don't drag me into your stereotypesJordan wrote:I'm not actually a student Leo (graduated 2011), but it's seems you oldies (no offence) seem to think anyone under the age of 28 is a student....well my Dad does anyway.

Not sure just pulling photos from BBCFood is the aim of the game Bluey. Looks delicious though.
I ate in Simple last night. Anyone been? Great food. I had chicken and wilted spinach in peppercorn sauce.

Re: What's cooking...
Am I supposed to take pictures of it?
I know a guy in NYC who eats out pretty much every night of the week. He takes pics of everything he eats and posts it on FB.
He was doing that whilst we were in a restaurant......he said he has posted over 1000 pictures of food he's eaten.....that's just weird!
I was showing what I was going to make.......mine didn't look that good!!!

Yes, take photos of what you have made.
I don't really take photos of eating out, I'm too busy tucking in. Unless it's a quirky or random meal, then it's crying out for a picture (and a chance to show off)

Re: What's cooking...
That explains why Bluey's meals look so delicious! I've never been that great at presentation, which is mainly why I didn't take a snapshot of the meatballs I made tonight. Well, that and the fact everyone ate them so damn fast I couldn't get a shot...
I think we should probably be using the topic in the "Off Topic" forum. I'll make that one a sticky and then I'll close this one.
