On one hand, Pep has taken all the first team except Kev because of his suspension. I can see a little game to say Dave is injured to give him some rest and to make it look like we are fielding a strong team.

Yup I suspect & hope you're right on this. Pep has a lot of respect for the CL which is understandable so doesn't want to look like he's undermining it in any way. It would explain why he's being so vague about where / what the injury is with David. It's supposed to be a muscle injury (although not serious) that he picked up in the final kick when he scored. I think he will play a decent B-side with Foden, but with the rest of the kids on the bench until the 2nd half. It might be a dead rubber, but I still think a win or even a draw would be a significant morale boost ahead of the derby. If we get hammered 3 or 4-0 then it will not help the kids development so hopefully we can get something out of this. They only need a point so will be more cagey & less attacking than some people think.
