MAN CITY v ARSENAL
MUST WIN GAME. We can't afford any fuck ups now.
Something a little different. If Vinny is fit, he starts.
Ederson
Stones, Otamendi, Laporte
Bernardo, Dino, KDB, Mendy/Zinchenko
Sterling, Aguero, Sane

Re: MAN CITY v ARSENAL
No David Silva???
This is how I'd start;
Ederson
Walker, Stones, Laporte,
Ferdi
Sterling, Bernado, KDB, Silva, Sane
Aguero.
If Vinny's fit, he replaces Walker.

I stand corrected, looking like 3 at the back.
CITY XI | Ederson, Walker, Laporte, Otamendi, Fernandinho, Gundogan, Silva (C), De Bruyne, Bernardo, Sterling, Aguero
SUBS | Muric, Danilo, Stones, Delph, Sané, Mahrez, Jesus

Three at the back but no natural wingbacks? Looks odd, but I’m sure there’s a plan in there somewhere.

thinking 3-2-4-1
look at our previous matches with Danilo sat inside anyways, makes sense to actually play Gundongan in that hole instead?

Looks like Dino playing centre back and Laporte right back in a back four.

It might be the same early score line, but performance is so much better.

Against the run of play though, will be really disappointed if we don’t get 3 points from this game

Timely stuff, we’d just lost control of the game in the last 15 mins.

Lucky there, look like it came off his arm. Brilliant from Sterling setting it up.

Comfortable in the end. They’ve got a real soft underbelly the Gooners, I’d like to play them every week.

Made the mistake of reading some of the city Facebook page tonight, I almost wish we were back in the 3rd tier you know. Tourists come with success I get that, but it's painful sometimes. Won't go there again anytime soon.

Re: MAN CITY v ARSENAL
That was easy...it was like a training session for 75% of the game.
If City really wanted too, they could have got 6....Arsenal were that poor.
Got to back this up with another 3pts at Goodison on Weds now.

Re: MAN CITY v ARSENAL
What I don't get is why we didn't play with that same intensity midweek. We hadn't lost to Newcastle in 13 years, they've been losing games for fun. Or maybe it was just part of the plan to keep the spotlight on Klippety after his comments about not enjoying the pressure of having the attention on him and his team.
I wasn't happy about the Everton game being inbetween this and Chelsea, but having won this one comfortably enough and Chelsea seemingly on a bit of a wobble, I'm not so fussed any more, rather now than when the season gets really interesting in a couple of months.

I agree Leo...perfect time to add some more pressure, as long as we play like we did yesterday.
Here's hoping WHU does us a favour tonight.

Re: MAN CITY v ARSENAL
City summed up perfectly in Leo's post....it's all about intensity. When we play at speed, we're impossible to handle/stop. Play without any - like Newcastle, it becomes a far more even game and we struggle.
Simple message then Pep....keep the intensity up and we'll be fine.

Re: MAN CITY v ARSENAL
I'm guessing the problem with intensity is that it requires the players to be able to keep it up, which needs a lot of energy. Maybe they backed off against Newcastle because it was considered the easiest of the four games we had in a two week window, only it bit us on the arse. I doubt we'd see us drop off against Everton, given it puts us on the front foot against the dippers, who will have a game in hand on us at that point and will have to wait a week to catch up, putting more pressure on them to keep up with us.

Re: MAN CITY v ARSENAL
There is a lot of evidence in modern sports science that suggests that 3 days is not long enough for players to fully recover and can lead to chronic fatigue and injury especially when this is repeated week after week. We are all glad that we are the only ones left in 4 competitions bar Chelsea, but it takes its toll on the players and they are never going to have the same intensity for every game. That's why rotation and competition for places is so important, getting the balance right is why elite managers are paid lots of money & I think Pep is the best in the business (thought that long before he came to city) while the formation may change I think Sundays game tells us a lot about who will play against Everton & Chelsea. If I'm right the Chelsea game will have almost the same players as against Arsenal.
