West Ham v City
Must win game at the start of the season. It maybe that Liverpool don't manage to hit the heights of last season and luck and VAR may be against them, but that doesn't mean that we should ease off the gas.

Walker, Stones, Laporte, Zinchenko

That starting 13 should be good enough to see off the 11 men of the hammers

Might be wrong, but think I read something last night saying Dino hadn’t travelled so a Prem debut for Rodri seems likely. Not much point in watching this though, Dippers won the league last night didn’t they?

The trophy was on standby at Anfield last night, already bedecked in red ribbons. There’s really no point in us playing today.

Apparently his armpit was offside FFS.

I thought VAR was for blatant offside? That’s ridiculous

They say it is any part of your body that can control the ball. I guarantee if he scored with his arm pit it would be disallowed for handball

Thought that one was offside ... baffling! Great goal though.

Thoroughly deserved win. Bit harsh on West Ham, but who cares? Caught in possession a little too often, but the playing out from the back was excellent.

Great atmosphere today, and as usual a lot of mutual respect between City and West Ham fans

Shout out for Ederson too. Not needed very often, but when called upon - great save down to his right for a clean sheet. Goal difference has been crucial before.

I see the MOTD dipper love in is off and running, both shearer and Ian Wright Wright Wright both tipped Liverpool to the title without hesitation. I really think this is going to be like 2 years ago and its all over by Xmas this year. Dippers are too cocky after the CL.

Agree, was saying to the boy yesterday that we will be well clear of them by Christmas. At home to a newly promoted team and attempts on their goal were in double figures. One dimensional team with no plan B. I’m expecting more of a threat from other teams this season.

I saw that too, and laughed at just how desperate the media are for the dippers to win the league. And then I had a think about it and came to the conclusion that they were still having a laugh.blisteringblue wrote:I see the MOTD dipper love in is off and running, both shearer and Ian Wright Wright Wright both tipped Liverpool to the title without hesitation. They've made no signings of note, not strengthened in any key areas and are still dependent on three players to be on the field in order to get anywhere. There's no real depth there, certainly not to our standards. Plus, we've strengthened with Cancelo and Rodri, the spuds have drafted in a few players, as have Arsenal. How anyone would think the dippers are going to win when they couldn't last year is crazy. I suspect they're going to have more of a battle keeping Spurs and Arsenal behind them.
Also, in the 17/18 season, we had almost no injuries and we won by a landslide. Last season, Liverpool had almost no injuries and lost out to us, and we had KdB and Mendy out for practically the whole season and lost other players at various times too.

I was in Atlanta for the West Ham match - at the Brewhouse Pub in Little Five Points - home of the Atlanta Man City Supporters club. About 100 city fans in there singing their heads off. The club had arranged for the Atlanta fans to see the cup and it was carried around the pub with strains of "championes". Shawn Wright Phillips was there and had a photo op with him and Atlanta Blue. Great day out - with full English breakfast. Such ardent fans up there - who knew!!
