I’d rather have Kolorov

I think Mendy is getting better. Whether he'll be good enough is a different question.

He should be better but isn't. I'd stick with Zinky. In fact I'd stick with the team that beat Sheffield, other than Clownio obviously.

Re: City v Everton
Think people have been a bit harsh on Mendy. He certainly messed up v Wolves, but could easily have got away with it on another day. Apart from that aberration he’s been pretty decent lately. We played the 2nd half v Sheff Utd with 3 CBs, if we start today with the same then Mendy and Walker are our best two wingbacks in front of a back 3. If we start with a back 4 I think Zinky is the better option at the moment. We don’t play 3 at the back often enough for my liking, I hope we see a bit more of it 2nd half of the season.

Wow very "B" team there, good to see Garcia and Foden though it is needed. Hopefully enough for any sort of win.

Delph nailed on to score too had a cheeky quid on Foden to score anytime.

Re: City v Everton
Looks like Rodri on the right of a back 3, Mendy and Cancelo wingbacks. Interesting.

Pretty much bossing this, with nothing to show for it. Like the formation, don’t like the personnel. Walker for Cancello, Sergio for Jesus.

Sorry PPLF, not having that at all. One-touch passing was poor, let the ball run out of play couple of times, and doesn’t have the pace to get up and down the pitch like Walker. He’s not terrible, but Walker’s better.

Amazing what he can do if he stays on-side.

Genuinely the only City player I want out. If he was good enough we’d never have signed Ederson.

Everton are up for this now. We are a shadow of last year. The odd bit of genius and so much shite. We need a 3rd.

Game didn’t deserve to be that close, we were much the better side.

Mendy was fouled for the 2nd goal. It's as clear as day. He was shielding the ball, wasting time (as he should have done).Blue Radley wrote:Think people have been a bit harsh on Mendy. Re: City v Everton
He was indeed fouled, Ray. But first he should have hoofed it clear, or, second, he should have gone to ground when fouled. He gave the ref an opportunity to play on, and VAR the opportunity to back the ref. Hence, an aberration. Other than that he had a decent game, just a bit of naivety.

But why was he shielding the ball, if it went out of play it would have been a cornerTopdawg wrote:Mendy was fouled for the 2nd goal. It's as clear as day. My apologies to PPLF, seems Cancelo is getting generally positive reviews. I wasn't at the game, but just watched the first half back again on NBC and still can't see it. I guess that's the difference between being there and watching on TV. I'll not be questioning your wisdom again.Paulpowersleftfoot wrote:Cancelo was really good first halfBlue Radley wrote:Pretty much bossing this, with nothing to show for it. Re: City v Everton
He's allowed that error - genuine mistake rather than poor play. Bottom line is, he was fouled. No need to hoof it clear if he's shielding the ball and the only way the attacker can get to it is by fouling him. Yes, he should have screamed and gone to ground, but do we have to change the way we play to stop the chests?Nijinsky wrote:But why was he shielding the ball, if it went out of play it would have been a cornerTopdawg wrote:Mendy was fouled for the 2nd goal. Re: City v Everton
It is that sort of buggering around with the ball that cost us the goal against Everton. We know you can't rely on the ref's at that place as we found out last year with the handball goal, But why was he trying to protect the ball anyway when it would have gone out for a corner. Should have put it up in row z for a throw in. It just shows poor judgementTopdawg wrote:He's allowed that error - genuine mistake rather than poor play. Bottom line is, he was fouled. Re: City v Everton
I watched the game on tv and admittedly I knew the score as the game was shown live at 01.30am missed the next showing at 08.00am as had to get the wife to some medical appointments so watched at 4.00pm. obviously not nervy as I knew the score but thought Cancello, Mendy & Garcia were excellent. My MOM was cancello. he may not have the pace of walker but his decision making and passing is far superior,or was in this game. He also seems to find the right spaces to be available for passes. Thought Gundogan had a good second half Foden & Ferna were tidy. Funnily enough de bruyne and mahrez were average although KDB stepped up 2nd half. Thought Jesus was superb especially 2nd half could of had 4 or 5 on a good day. Bravo made an excellent stop in the 1st half then undone all the good work with that attempted pass in the 2nd half. all in all job done and everton lucky to finish with 11 on the park.
