You're right joey lad, WBA have the highest football league ground (think Oldham are 3rd after Port Vale) , Buxton FC play at the highest altitude.

I was surprised Boundary Park was at a lower altitude than the Hawthorns as well when I found that out - at a trivia quiz! I questioned it after and the guy showed me the altitudes. Not much in it, but it's higher up. I was very surprised indeed.

It did have a cricket game stopped by snow in June/July 76, I only remember it as my brother was born that summer, record temperatures, snow in july, swarms of ladybirds......!!

It was against Lancashire Bewar... it was on the 12th of june....eeee I actually remember it 4" of snow.

i remember that plastic pitch and taking some southern mates to watch arsenal get stuffed 3-0 in then league cup.

my mum's burgers were the only thing keeping those lads warm that night as it was fucking freezing.

I used to have to play on that plastic pitch back in the day, fucking awful, good job i had the skill to cope.

we had one of the first plastic pitches in M/C at Ten acres lane in Newton Heath (the old red wreck)

Have played many a game on there ONH.

I was was on Oldhams books from 14 to 16 and played on theirs regulary, the ball would fly off the surface if you didn't have 6 inches of sand down and you were knackered after half a hour through forever chasing the ball. Used to love away games, at least you got to play on grass.

yep & sometimes the "locals" would set fire to it.
