City/United?
Being a big United fan growing up in North M/C I'll be honest enough to say I "hate" City, but thats only in football terms if you know what I mean, & I'am sure there are other "mancs" on here who understand that.
I've got good mates & work mates who are blues & things can get heated sometimes, but most times its just about local "bragging" rights although on Derby day round here it can sometimes be like the wildwest in certain pubs.
I'am sure most other lads/ladies on here who are "locals" understand this but for the ones who dont come from Manchester they would probally find it hard to understand that reds & blues do mix/get on & I know even split familys with brothers/sisters mams & dads supporting different teams.
Anyone else know where I'am coming from?

Re: City/United?
I have no Rag mates but I do know several of the creatures & will have banter with them & would even lower myself to have a drink with one.
I can honestly say though that out of about 20 that I know only 1 is actually from Manchester
I don't live in Manchester anymore but all the City fans I have met down here have their roots in Manchester

My circle of mates is a mix of blue and red (mostly blue tbh), but i agree, we have the banter and hate each others club with a passion, thats why a result like sunday's, hurts them even more, being from Manchester and having it shoved in your face. I've noticed the ones who say it isn't that important and make excuses on other forums, are the usual out of towners, who wouldn't know where OT was, but seem to think their opinion is somewhat of relevance.

Re: City/United?
It depends how you look at it.I know plenty of Utd fans but only know one who actually goes so he's the only one i consider a utd fan and hes had dogs abuse since sunday and rightly so,thats how it should be.When Utd won the carling cup 2nd leg the twat went to the trouble of laminating a picture of rooney arms aloft and pinned it on a tree in my garden. My son downloaded the laughing man from Blackpool on sunday night and has been ringing him constantly with it
Good banter doesnt need to be offensive
I have a few utd supporters who work for me and id have to confess to putting the shitty jobs their way but id put that down to human nature,i didnt ask them to support the rag bastards

Re: City/United?
My family are split 50-50. My mum has 7 sisters and a brother. I must have in the region of 50 cousins, most of which are rag fans.
We've had actual physical fights over the years at family parties. Not so much these days as we are all older - but when I was 16, 18, 20...etc, most of my cousins of similar age were rags and we hated each other when the talk got round to football...it always kicked off. I've had stitches above my eye whereby a cousin who was 24, when I was 15 punched me for "speaking out of turn about Munich" I deserved what I got, and he got a plant pot over his head a few years later, followed by a good old kicking when I was a bit bigger one night outside a pub in Burnage.
That's the way it is.....all's fair in love and football.

What would've been quality is if you were one of my rag cousins - as i've had kicked the living shit out of you at every party!! That would have been quality!!

Re: City/United?
Out of my mates, there's only three of us that are blues, but then there's only three of us that have season tickets.
Family-wise there's three blue families, one red, and one Spurs (they live in Whitehaven, they're wierd like that up there!)

Re: City/United?
Personally I will give plenty of abuse to Cockney reds that don't even know where the 'fackin norf' is, let alone the theatre of hype. But following Sunday's demonstration of beauty and power I sat and had a pint with a red mate who is a season ticket holding football fan. After every derby the loser buys the beer, so I'm well out of pocket at the moment (but looking forward to a few cheap nights out in future).
