Month from hell
Jan 1st Sunderland A
Jan 3rd. Liverpool H
Jan 7th. Man utd. H
Jan 11th Liverpool. H
Jan 16th Wigan. A
Jan 22nd spurs. H
Jan 25th Liverpool. A
Feb 1st. Everton. A
If we are unbeaten through that lot,I'll be amazed. We lose yaya and kolo for most of them but I don't think there is any games we can play weakened teams in so this will be a severe test of the squads capabilities.
Which to prioritise must be the way to look at it,for me it would be
League
FA cup
carling cup
In that order
Great to have such problems I think

Re: Month from hell
Very very difficult month
Personally I'd go League, CC, FA Cup
We are 2 matches away from an excellent chance of a trophy in the CC & although it would obviously be great to smash the Rags again, we are still a long way off from Wembley even if we do
I know we have to be careful about the FFP rules but with the loss of Kolo & Yaya & possible injuries with such a heavy fixture list we need to be looking at bringing 1 or players in in January as well as getting rid of some of the dross

Re: Month from hell
where do we need the extra personnel?
Maybe Alex on a 6 month loan to cover for KoLo?

I'm pretty sure we could field a weaker side against Wigan. They aren't that good!

Re: Month from hell
Month from hell..........Everton Feb 1st? (only joking Rich ). It truely is a tough month but we have to expect and accept this congestion, as this is what success brings.
Get Cahill from Bolton to cover Kolos absence and replace Lescott. I'm sure RM has everything in hand though.
I think RMs priority will be League then the FA Cup. I'm pretty sure he'll put the strongest possible side out against the Rags, but i don't think he will against L/pool in the CC Cup.

Our youth team could batter Wigan. The only thing they're doing right is keeping hold of Martinez.ManCityMan wrote:I reckon our second string players could hammer Wigan

They have a great chairman in dave Whelan who stands by his managers a lot longer than most other clubs would. I reckon thats why Martinez is still there , he could get a better job easy if he wanted.

Re: Month from hell
I reckon Martinez is there because he's not willing to leave the club in dire straits. I suspect Whelan wakes up every morning, grateful that he actually found a decent young manager who isn't out to make a fast buck.

Glad he wasn't our Chairman though we might have been stuck with Alan Ball a lot longer

Re: Month from hell
Bruce was a relatively untried young manager when he was given the job at Wigan (fat or not) which sums up what i mean about Dave Whelan he is not afraid to give a young manager a chance and he is loyal unlike say...Abramovitch.

Trouble is if he continues being such a good chairman the pie eaters are going to be relegated !

Re: Month from hell
Lets take a closer look:
Jan 1st Sunderland A - a team that could include Kolorov, Zaba, AJ, DeJong & Dzeko.
Jan 3rd. Liverpool H - strongest team minus the above.
Jan 7th. Man utd. H - 4 days rest and the strongest team again.
Jan 11th Liverpool. H - 4 days rest and the strongest team possible with maybe one change.
Jan 16th Wigan. A - CC team - by that i mean fringe players, mixed with the odd 1st teamer.
Jan 22nd spurs. H - strongest team after 10 days rest.
Jan 25th Liverpool. A - Stongest team with the exception of 1 or 2 players rotated.
Feb 1st. Everton. A - Strongest team with 1 or 2 rotated after 1 weeks rest.
If we get rid of 3 or 4 non-starters from the team and bring in 1 or 2 top signings, then it makes the situation even more manageable.
Kolo may only have played in the Sunderland and Wigan game - so can be done without, with Ned available for cover, Micah at CB and Zaba at RB if needed.
Yaya can be replaced with either DeJong, Barry or Milner depending on the role he would have played - add to that Zaba can play there or so can Kolorov in MF. Granted, not as well....but we may bring in another player or play Barry and DeJong in the holding positions in the bigger games against United and Liverpool.
The way I see it - it time for some to step up and deliver and this is their chance.
So for me...not overly bothered about, but no doubt Bobby will complain after/before each game.

Re: Month from hell
I actually quite rate Alex at Chelsea Dawg, reckon he could more than do a job for us. If we ship the cunt off to AC as well, surely they can sort us out with a midfielder as part of the deal? Pato was mooted in the press yesterday I think.
Suppose it depends what the injury situation is in Jan when both Toure's go, maybe Hargreaves will be able to put a few games under his belt. Only problem is really, if we bring someone in in January, we're all more than well aware that they may not even have bed in before the season is over.
If I had to pick one or the other, I'd choose beating Liverpool to the final over beating United in the 3rd round, then we have a good chance of an early piece of silverware and can focus on the League.

Re: Month from hell
alex won't be getting any games for chelsea so i think he'd be a decent call as a loan signing for a few months. he'd do a job when required.
i think we should put a £50M bid in for modric the week before we play spurs....
