Martin Samuel Does It Again
No wonder he is the best journalist this country has.

Re: Martin Samuel Does It Again
Another good article. Although I'm not sure I'd agree with him that most City fans would want to wrench the title from United now and hang the consequences. What would be the point of winning it once or twice, just to hand it back to them afterwards? No, I'd much rather we had a Guardiola figure to nurture us into becoming a dominant force and take the title from them for good.

How about getting Mourinho in now, win the title asap, then bring in Guardiola after 2 years to offer stability from then on .

It'd do for me Shaken...i want the title now, now, now...not in 10 years.....but I agree with everything Samuel said about the long-term project fitting with the way the owners do things...they are not going to splash £400m on the Etihad Campus and have no sensible long-term ideas for it.
I'd give Mancini one more season...that's what he has on his contract....can't see either Mourinho or Pep wanting to move in the summer, regardless of the outcome of the CL or La Liga...as one will want to defend one or both of them, the other not go out as a losing manager.
Next season..see where we are and access then.

Agree with your 1st paragraph (not the 2nd ) but as Samuel said though blue, next season they could decide to go to OT if Slur Alex leaves and we may well end up missing out.

They're not both going to leave Spain at the same time, surely.
Maybe i should have put "either" instead of "they" .

if Madrid blow the title & Barca win it (they were ten points clear now just three & its the madrid derby tonight) then Mourinho will leave IMO.

Re: Martin Samuel Does It Again
Seeing as Mancini is yet to sign a new contract(or be offered one) it looks highly likely that both sides are playing a wait and see game, it's all well and good building stability by sticking with a manager, but Mancini has made major schoolboy errors ALL SEASON, he just got away with it earlier on, when teams worked us out, he didn't adapt, when his formations weren't working, not to mention his selections, he continued to try and force round pegs into square holes, and broke both the tools and the pegs, witness the capitulation of a previous imperious team, relelntless and as sharp a cutting edge as we'd ever seen at City, broken , witless and clueless at Arsenal, only VK came out of that game blameless.
No, if we want to build a legacy at City, we have to start winning games when it matters, when the real pressure is on, I don't think Mancini will truly understand the Premiership and all it's vagaries . Pep is the man we would like to see at City, the players would respect him totally because what he has done at Barca, it's not just a footballing philosophy he'd bring, but an aura matched only by Fergie and Mourinho. If we can't have Pep, then lets at least get some instant gratification with Mourinho

I'm torn on what we should do.
If Pep said yes in the summer - i'd say we have no choice but to sack Mancini.
If Mourinho said yes in the summer - i'd probably say yes for the short-term.
If they both have bigger fish to fry - then i'd stick with Mancini.
I agree - Pep would be the ideal candidate out of the 3.....but we may have to wait another season - which is all Mancini has left on his contract.
Will EITHER of them want the City job? That's another question we haven't even debated. Neither may want it...so what then?

That's why nothing hardly has been mentioned in the press, apart from Jose's supposed agreement to take over, which was pure fabrication/wishful thinking...
If we somehow now rediscover good form, win all our games, Mancini will keep his job, if we continue to slide, and when I say slide, it's nearing cliff face proportions now, so much so, that I wouldn't be surprised if we lose 2nd place, if we carry on in this wishy washy manner, he'll go, he has to, there's no excuse, he's mismanaged so many players with his supposed rotation policy, a rotation policy that somehow doesn't include our best player, Silva, who has been ground into the dust by Mancini, yet includes Dzeko, a confidence player, dropped after a 4 goal haul including a perfect hat=trick... just pure bizzare.
I've had enough of his bullshit now, he hasn't learnt anything this season, with better management we would won the title this season, that's the bones of the matter, hell, I would have gotten a better points haul over the past 5 games than him.
I suspect Jose and Pep have been alerted to the possibility that they may get a call soon.... I'll watch the game tonight with keen interest

Not much considering we finished on equal points with 2nd place Chelsea last season! and if by progress, you mean throwing away a good chance to win the title, with random tactics, and bizzare team selections...well,... err...! not to mention the strong finish we put in last season, compared to this years meltdown...
