penalties and england go out again
you just know when someone is gonna miss - they can't look up before they take their pen.
we didn't deserve to go through anyway. couldn't pass the ball and some of our forwards pretended they were french and couldn't play for the team.

This display was abysmal.I have a three year old granddaughter who can pass the ball better than Rooney. But having said that nobody on the England team passed the ball, except to an Italian:)

Re: penalties and england go out again
We defended very well, shame the attack couldn't pull their collective finger out! Rooney, unfit, slow, ponderous, the white Pele? my arse, looked like a 3rd tier clogger, Rooney and Young, both were poor, Rooney had several chances to score, but for some reason he thinks he's lighter than he is, doesn't get up or miss times jumps... anyway, we didn't deserve it.
Thought all the City players did well, Lescott, Hart, Milner was ok, Mario was excellent, should have scored, but then again, half the Italian team could have scored!!!!! at least we won't have to out to the Germans again!!!

Re: penalties and england go out again
Easily 2nd best on the night but tremendous defence by the boys
Thought Milner was superb in the 1st half. Lescott, Joe & SMB did us proud Pity the rag scum couldn't get their fingers out of their arses
Young was the worst England player of the tournament !
Did our saviour Theo actually touch the ball when he came on ??

Re: penalties and england go out again
Wtf did Ashley Young do last night to warrant staying on instead of Milner, as maybe i missed it?
Why was Rooney not dragged off either?
No Tony, Walnutt didn't......unless you call getting it stuck between your legs "touching it".
Anyway, as said above we were shit overall and imo completely outclassed. Why our players lost the ability to pass to one another last night is baffling and extremely frustrating but why Hodgsons reverted us back to an "attacking the break" team is beyond me. The Italian team were there for the taking but we made them look like world beaters. Could Roy and Co not see that Pirlo fella in the middle was taking the piss out of us with the ball...........ffs get someone to go and close him down and put a friggin tackle in.

Re: penalties and england go out again
I wondered that as well. I don't think Pirlo put in a bad pass all night, every ball was a master class in how to send the ball forwards to a team-mate. And as for that penalty, a dinked ball? He must have the cojones of an elephant! We should've had someone stood on his boots, making it hard for him to play.
With the Italians running out of luck in front of goal, we needed some form going forwards and we just didn't have it. I'm personally hoping that those three puddings carry on being crap next season, but I bet they pull on that red shirt and remember how to play. Useless twats.

Re: penalties and england go out again
In fairness I thought we were in with a shout for the first 15 minutes. We ran at them and had them worried, then for some reason we decided that giving them the ball was going to be the way to go.
Our lads put up a show, especially Big Joe, but 35% of possession?I do not know what Roy said at half time but it was not go out and enjoy the game, because the second half was C***

Maybe he told them to go out and watch how the Italians play football, try and get some ideas on how to pass and move?

Re: penalties and england go out again
confident penalty takers spend their time looking at the ref waiting for him to blow his whistle.
ashley young looked at the floor. did he spend his penalty practice in training blasting the ball straight down the middle?
cashley didn't look confident either. if i could have placed a bet on both of them missing whilst they were about to shoot, i would have.

Re: penalties and england go out again
The England team needs to start doing something about the penalty fiasco. We have now lost 6 out of 7 penalty shoot outs. Fuckin disgraceful. That's 3 world cups & 3 Euros !!!
Everyone in the country knew we were goin to lose last nite. Effin shambles
Don't think the Germans have ever lost a penalty shoot out. How come ?

Re: penalties and england go out again
As Roy said last night, you can't train for the pressure of the occasion, you can't recreate the oppressive environment. All you can do is just keep practicing the technique until you're banging them in for fun.
And then hope you can do it when the pressure is on. Which is crap, because we clearly can't. And the Germans can. Maybe we lose confidence because of the added pressure of failing in the past, or perhaps we're missing a trick. Maybe we need someone in the German camp to advise.

Re: penalties and england go out again
golfers practice putting so much that it becomes 2nd nature and the chances of duffing a putt diminish the more you practice.
How long did Beckham practice his free kicks for in order to get them spot on in big matches?
10 minutes of penalty practice isn't enough to get you so sure of yourself that you can hit the same spot time after time, even under immense pressure.
Without any training at all, I couldn't handle the pressure of inter class knockout tournaments, so you need immense calmness and skill to handle the pressure in a nerve wracking situation.
And plenty of practice!
