City - Half Time Empty City - Half Time

Post by blueboy Sat Nov 17, 2012 4:02 pm

Well, Villa have had the best chances....we've had nearly all the ball. Scrappy goal, but we'll take it.

Aguero looks way off the pace as if he has an injury.

We need to stop trying to pass them to death.....5 times on the edge of the area - we tried to play the killer ball instead of shooting.

Maicon looks as though he is frightening their LB.....and Clichy has acres of room on the left.

Can see Dzeko coming on for Aguero and maybe Kolorov for Nasri/Clichy and get those crosses on Dzeko's head.

Come on City!

It's a proper be patient day, still think we've enough for 3 or 4-0 today though. Just need to score some goals a bit like we did last year.

Ouch that would annoy any team, never a pen in a month of Sundays. At least we weren't on the receiving end of a shocker this time.

5-0!!!!!
I'd say the penalties are due, because we've had nailed on pens denied on several occasions this year.
As they say, it's a marathon, not a sprint, if we can keep building on each performance, game by game, we might avoid the mid season slump

First pen.....what a joke...second one, seen them given against us, so yes.

Glad to see some more shots when we had the chance.

5 goals - average performance in the final third.....some players rested for Tues....top of the league, 2 better goals diff than the rags........can't really complain...and we are nowhere near hitting top form.......looking OK.

This against a team that were 2-0 up against the rags after 60 minutes.

Villa were really poor today...thought Maicon had a good game....boding well as cover for Zab and Micah.

No test................Tues will be a different kettle of fish.

Maicon excellent today and last week (surprise) for me at any rate. Silva back on form - felt sorry for Villa on that first pen though - poor guy pulled his arm away sharpish - so they have to feel hard done by.

Maicon has been a revelation since he came back. I think he is just match fit now which has got to help.

We get anywhere near last years top form and we will run away with this league. Famous last words I know but we're still not 100% at the races yet.

there's only one linesman, only one linesman, there's only one linesman!

What an easy game for my first of the season. I averaged over 3 goals per game everytime I went last season so let's hope I get to some more games!

City - Half Time Empty Re: City - Half Time

When travelling back after the game some joker on GMR said Maicon was terrible....WTF! Personally thought Maicon had a decent game, seemed to have loads of room out wide and caused problems all the time for their LB.

This was a classic game of just being patient, eventually we would have wore them down in the 2nd half......with or without the very dodgy penalty. Good to see Silva looking hungry again and i thought Barry had a solid game in the middle again. Nasty looked composed too, but admittedly didn't really have a lot to do.

Overall, thought it was a good performance and we were deserving winners. As blue says, different kettle of fish Wednesday night, but we're going into it full of confidence now.....so nothing to fear Razz.

Exactly we have nothing to lose we might as well just go for it.

To get to the final match and still have something to play for has got to be worth something. Even if it is just for moral.

Up until 8pm on Saturday, I was trying to work out how that happened. They came close to bagging some points at the swamp (shame they capitulated in the last half an hour) and outplayed the rags at times. And yet at our place they looked pretty poor and, I'd argue, the worst team we've played at home so far this season. Worse than they were in the Capital One cup, for sure. So were we so much better or were they just having an off day? Or is it possible the rags are so frail that they could be taken out by just about anyone?

And at 8pm I checked the scores and realised... it's the last one, isn't it? They are really not all that good!

I agree Villa were pap, end of.

Yes we played well, but still I feel we are far from full flow.

It seems we are still content with a slow passage out of defence sometimes, yaya seems half asleep, yet upfront we are looking hungry once again. It still bothers me that we lack height, and we seem to be setting up to whip balls in from the flanks with Nasri and Maicon yet 2 midgets on the end of them??

I think the game against Real will show how well we are doing.
