Team v Stoke
Hart
Zab Kompany Nasty Cliche
Milner Garcia Barry
Nasri Tevez
Dzeko
Subs: Lescott, Aguero, Kolarov, Sinclair, Pant...
I think Aguero should be protected from the Stoke thugs and used sparingly if required.

Re: Team v Stoke
I don't know for sure how much effort Stoke are going to put into the cup, but if their past exploits are anything to go by, I reckon they'll go strong.
I doubt that'll put Bob off, though. I suspect he'll play a "cup team" even though we've no midweek games to throw us off. No doubt he'll go with the Stoke height too.

They're at home, and this is their only realistic chance at any silverwear, and to put one over on us would be a huge achievement.
I think we go strong, as another FA CUP trophy might be needed by Bobby to keep his job

... and we took a beating by Aston Villa - yes Aston Villa to exit the League Cup - so really have to stay in this one.

We did, Wensdi. I was there. Two bloody hours of getting soaked whilst watching a crap Villa side take apart our lads who played even worse!
I agree with you, Beware. But I'm not Bob, he might have other ideas. But given the FA Cup is played at weekends when there's no other games on, it makes no sense at all to ignore it.
I've been checking stats and the last three at the Britannia were a 1-1 draw. But no worries, the replay will be at ours and the last four games have ended 3-0 in our favour!

If we stop the supply line from out wide to the freak we will go a long way to nullify them so having workers in front of the full backs to double up is essential in my opinion so i would go with
Hart
Zabaleta Kompany Nastasic Clichy
Milner Garcia Barry
Tevez Silva
Aguero

I agree that maybe the way to play them is with height, but get the feeling Aguero may replace Tevez. That's why I've put Lescott, Kolorov and Dzeko in my team for height.

I work in Stoke "me Duck" quite a lot and most of the lads are season ticket holders who always like to chew the fat about footy. They reckon "Freeeeaaaaaakkkkkkkk" will be off to QPR before the window is out, but he's not been playing of late. It's been Kenwyn Jones.
They don't think he will pick any sort of weakened team for this. They took full strength to Crystal Palace in the first round.
I say treat it like the league game. Pick our strongest side.

I'm not worried about Le Freak...it's Walters i'm worried about...scored loads of goals recently!

Re: Team v Stoke
If they play anything like they did on New Years day we should have no problem.. they couldn't handle our fast play and overlapping. Zabba and Silva were outstanding that match and with Nasri back and we play it on the ground it should be comfortable...
Hart
Clichy, Lescott, Kompany, Zabba
Barry, Garcia,
Silva, Nasri, Milner
Tevez
Would leave Aguero And Dzeko on the bench till late when this lot have run them ragged.. Lescott for Nasty like the home game for the rough stuff!

hmmm...I know we have had some strange Bobby formations this season Belly...but Clichy at RB...and Zab at LB?

Re: Team v Stoke
We have to go all out for the win, Bobby can't afford not too imo. We have to try and win this competition, he can't rely on retaining the PL title to win some silverware.....we're not exactly in a position to take that as a nailed on certainty now are we.
Anyway, my unbeatable team to start is:
..................Lil Joe
Zab......Vince.....Lescott....Clichy
...........Garcia........Barry
Milner............................Silva
.........Dzeko.....Aguero

Re: Team v Stoke
Pretty much agree with Den's team although Id keep Tevez up front & give Aguero a bit more time to get fully match fit
We have to be well up for it. Stoke are a different proposition at the Britannia but we should have enough to see them off

Re: Team v Stoke
Can't fault that selection. For me, it makes no sense at all to field a weakened side as it's been a week since we cantered to a win against Fulham and it's another week before we bob down to Loftus Road. With relatively straightforward games either side, there really is no excuse not to go to the Britannia with our strongest team and give the Hanley Arms A team a slapping for a change.shakencity wrote:Anyway, my unbeatable team to start is:

But we all know this. The question is, does Bobby?

Re: Team v Stoke
I would rest Silva and Aguero on the bench to start (missed Silva off my bench in OP). If we are struggling then these 2 have pace and cunning against a tired talentless Stoke.

Re: Team v Stoke
Oops dont know my left from right..haha thanks for pointing that out Blueboy and i hadn't touched a drop.
Still think we need to score 1st then they will have to attack and not waste time like they did from the 1st min at our place (most negative team ever) God help if they nick a goal because they will just put every player behind the ball and waste time...

If they waste time - then we'll just have to kick their ball boy.
