Nothing special against Leeds

Leeds were far too open for their own good which allowed us to pick them apart. I thought we were pretty average, as usual, against what is just a championship side.

You can only beat what's in front if you. Leeds were quite poor but thought we did ok.

Yaya was hungry for it, but overall it was the sort of game we needed after Southampton.

You can add Michael Brown to the hated blues. Makes up for lack of ability by constant fouling.

Result! Draw couldn't be better!

Home to Barnsley and rags v Chelsea!

4-0 after what they dished up last week? Come on guys.....that was 100% better today. Thought Yaya was much better further forward and Aguero and Tevez are clearly our best strikers....Dzeko came on and was shit. He has to go in the summer.

I thought we did ok today....especially in the 1st half. The 3rd goal effectively killed the game and that's when we sat back allowing Leeds to have a bit more of the ball. Even then we could and maybe should have gone on and scored more than the 4 we did get.
The only person i wasn't happy with today was Maicon when he came on, he just gave the ball away and never once got a decent cross in on the numerous occassions he got down the wing.....poor!

We have all been keen on some of the weak signings we made last window to get some game time so how do you think Rodwell did in the short time he was on? Apart from the header in front of an open goal that he missed of course. I'm not sure he touched the ball much during the time he was on so probably unfair to judge him.
I was disappointed that the substitutions in the second half were mainly defensive even though we controlled the whole game and Leeds never really threatened. I wanted them to up the tempo and hit them for 2 or 3 more goals but they sat back and actually seemed to play the second half in third gear.

Leeds were very poor so I don't think we ever needed another gear

I know we didn't need to be in top gear Paul but at 3 -0 up i don't think we needed to sit back and after the last game the fans deserved a goal fest and some value for money for a change. Apart from the first half hour it was not a convincing performance against a poor Championship side.

I know we have been dire for years and we should be grateful for where we are now but its because of how we played last year and what we are capable of that i expect better performances than of late. Sorry to be so negative i know we are in the next round against Barnsley at home and hopefully our league form will pick up after the win on Sunday.

I think that we should be grateful for what we have,easing up when we were 3 up was possibly a strategic play.With all the injuries we have had this season taking it easy more or less ensures that we have a full squad for Chelsea,and with Brown on the pitch we had to be careful.Anybody at the Etihad would have done,but to have Barnsley is really good.They are the ones who have to worry now!!
