What a palaver
Living and working in Scotland plays havoc with following my team
I have been planning my next trip to the Etihad for some time and decided that of the next home fixtures, the Wigan game was the one that suited all concerned ( 4 tickets for me , my son and my son in law and my brother who lives these days in Windsor these days.)
I managed to get the tickets no problem and arranged to stay at my mothers that weekend.
As you will no doubt know, the Wigan game has now been given the elbow for the FA Cup game against Barnsley so I have had to cancel the Wigan tickets and try to buy another 4 tickets on Monday for the Barnsley game on the same weekend!! They don't make it easy do they?

No, they bloody don't! I'd already planned to be away this weekend many, many months ago when we weren't supposed to have a match and boom, suddenly we're playing Chelsea. Feck

Re: What a palaver
I enjoyed watching City play Leeds up in Atlanta. Whilst I was there - my son and I visited the Manchester Arms in College Park. It was chock full of memorabillia from Manchester and Lancashire. After clicking on the link - click on "gallerry" and "about the pub". Of course we had fish and chips which is sadly lacking in Florida - not to mention curries.

Re: What a palaver
Yeah....well at least you lot will watch the game somehow - there, online, tv etc:
Me....getting picked up at 08:00 on Sunday morning.
11:00 flight from MAN to Munich - arrives at 14:00 local time.
I've then 6 hours in Munich airport before I then catch another flight at 19:55 to Sofia. Arrive in Sofia at 22:45 local time.
Luggage, taxi to hotel...and may be in bed by 01:00...up at 06:00 to be picked up at 07:00 for a full week of training.
Now.....that's some travel day.....so does anyone know if Munich airport has decent wi-fi? It'll be the only way I will get to watch the bloody match!
Fingers crossed...i'm not too pissed in bar somewhere and miss my flight! Been there, done that!

Re: What a palaver
You get 30 minutes free at Munich airport then it's 5 euros an hour.
Ah, Munich airport. Just one of several that I have been pulled over by the authorities.
What kind of 'training' do you get in Bulgaria then???

"It is of course also home to the richest sports franchise in the world, Manchester United Football Club"
From the Manchester Arms, Atlanta website where it gives a history of the city of Manchester in England. .

"The Always Fabulous Blue Moon Pork Chop"
What would you rather be the richest franchise in the world or a world famous Pork Chop?

Re: What a palaver
MCM - I read that bit also on the site but tried to overlook it. We have been to the Manchester Arms many times and the food is pretty great and they have a book and other memorabillia about Manchester. The book - "Times Past - Manchester" is so interesting with pics of Davyhulme, Urmston, Sale, Timperley and (my neck of the woods) taken 100 years ago. Just ordered it on Amazon UK.
Nijinsky - thanks for posting your local - looks great. Blistering you found something positive after the blasphemous utd bit - LOL.
Hope the bloke that owns it is a City supporter - never met him to ask but paid enough for the fish and chips and the Boddingtons. It's one of the few places called a pub - which actually resembles a pub and not a glorified sports bar.

Re: What a palaver
About 10 years ago I was in a pub in Tarporley, Cheshire - had the best pub food ever tasted - at the Dysart. The lamb was unbelievable as it was either English or Welsh lamb. Most of the lamb over here is corn fed from Colorado and is strong and nasty. However, we can now get Australian which is good.

Re: What a palaver
Just kidding Wensdi but it does annoy me that people (especially Americans) only know the rags come from Manchester and have never heard of city Hopefully over the next few years we will change that perception.
maybe next time I'm in Atlanta I'll check it out, I have a cousin in Georgia.

Small world - Blueboy/PPLF. Yes it is a nice pub - next time I'm over - I'll let you know - it's definitely worth another visit.
Blueboy if you live in that area you must know Willington Hall - been there loads - the food is good there too - especially the meringues - you can't get them here, I have to make my own. Also liked the Hazel Pear in Acton Bridge. Crikey - sound like a pub crawler.

Re: What a palaver
MCM that is one hell of a roundabout way to get to sofia. a number of years ago we flew to Varna only took around 3 & a half hours from Manchester. Surely a direct flight would have been easier??
