De Guzman - what a tw*t!
Dyer should've have just 'nutted' him and told him to fuck right off!
Talk about 'looking after your own back'.....poor team spirit.

Thought same. He may be the normally nominated taker, but that was just smug selfishness. Fair to Dyer, he got the ball in the area a couple of times straight after, and didn't go for It but played others in. I would have been on a one man mission at that stage.

Who was the Swans captain? he should have told De Guzman to give it to Dyer.

Blue, i don't think anyone would have taken offence if you'd have put an "i" in the title .

If it was a city player in the same situation holding the ball and not giving it to someone to finish a hat-trick we'd happily pack his bags and send him on his merry way.
Why Laudrup didn't send word on to give the ball to Dyer I don't know...
or to really hammer the point home would have subbed off De-Guzman for not handing it over..

It shouldn't just be about personal glory. One man to score a hat-trick or another to get a goal in a cup final?

Re: De Guzman - what a tw*t!
If De Guzman is the designated penalty taker, Dyer can't get too worked up about not getting to take it. They're supposed to be a team, working together to win a game, not argue the toss over whether someone should be allowed to keep the match ball or not.
Personally, I think Dyer was the bigger tw*t for wanting to have a slice of selfish glory. Scoring a hat-trick against Bradford City wouldn't have been a major achievement, really.

Actually Leo it would have been the first ever hat trick in a cup final i think, certainly in the League Cup Final.

Re: De Guzman - what a tw*t!
True, but it's still a bit selfish, isn't it. What if Dyer had won out, then missed the penalty and Bradford used that slice of luck to kick on? The cup could very well have ended up in Yorkcestestershire instead and Dyer would not only have not got his hat-trick, but missed out on a winners medal as well.
Maybe I'm being a bit mean, but it's a team game and the individual ranks a lower importance. Allow me to point the finger at wide boy Marsh for a few moments...

Re: De Guzman - what a tw*t!
I know what you mean Lee but if you seriously think that Dyer missing that penalty would have resulted in Bradford "kicking on" and winning the game or even scoring then you have been at the sauce a little early today mate I think that they had one shot at goal in the 87th minute which was a wild speculative effort and were completely out of their depth.
The penalty was never going to affect the outcome of the game one way or the other, and Dyer should have been allowed to get his name in the record books. IMHO

No, I don't seriously think that. Although stranger things have happened, Bradford were hopelessly outclassed and even if Swansea had decided to field only 7 players, they'd still have won.
I dunno, I see people grabbing the ball for their own glory and I just want to see it bite them on the arse. Like John Terry in the 2008 CL final. What a knob!
