Re: Holy fuck.
Isn't this the sort of thing that FFP is supposed to prevent?
Maybe the Premier League clubs should be made to pay back to the FA a proportion of their income to assist lower league clubs instead of keeping the money and spending more and more lavish sums on player wages. If the FA introduced that instead of complicated spending caps and controls over wage rises, then surely that would be better? Or maybe get clubs to sponsor a lower league side, perhaps?
It's always a shame to see clubs go to the wall, but as long as football is being run as a business, we're going to see this level of attrition.

Such a shame.
As a club just down the road from me it's awful to see. I hope they manage to pull themselves out the s***.
The FFP baffles me, as we still see clubs like this and Portsmouth (mainly their own doing) going down the pan financially.

I'm not surprised FFP baffles you, Jordan. It baffles me, too. I think it baffles everyone who tries to read it in the spirit of fair play. They should rename it as Status Quo Play - or SQP - as this is essentially all it is.

Leo, I like to believe I'm a relatively bright bloke, but after time and time again at trying to get my head around their rules, guidelines and criterion I find myself still perplexed!

Re: Holy fuck.
I understand the FFP rules pretty well.
They are rules aimed to fuck on all new major investment because American and Arabs were buying biggish clubs and some were prepared to stick a ton of money in for success.
The FFP rules are just an artificial way of preventing anyone challenging the current elite.
Maybe Bury could use their albeit small supporter base to get the money.
5,000 people sticking in £200 each gets you the million.

Dawg, that's what the FFP rules actually mean. But if you apply the alleged spirit of "preventing clubs from overspending and going bust" then none of it makes any sense at all.
But yes, if the Shakers fans were willing to chuck in a couple of hundred each, turn it into a proper club, then they'd be sorted.

I'd be prepared to stick a couple if hundred into a local club if it helps them to survive and they don't pish it up the wall.

Re: Holy fuck.
The problem is Bury have only averaged 2100 home supporters this season (a long way short of 5000), don't really know where the extra fans from last season have gone tbh......maybe priced out. However, if they were asking for people to do this Dawg/leo then i'd gladly send £200, but many people (including my dad) have already purchased season tickets for next season and bought into a bond scheme costing £150/apiece extra, the chances of getting an additional £200 of these loyal supporters may just be too much to ask.
It's gonna be upto people with big money to sort this mess out now. Maybe they could set up a new Board, as the current one is fucking useless.
One example: Who in their right minds give David Healy just shy of 3k/wk (reputedly), with the home attendances we get?....that right, Bury's Board did at the start of the season and they wonder why were in the mess we're in .

This is where the fit and proper person test fails miserably. Just because someone passes it doesn't make them able to run a club.

Re: Holy fuck.
Think we need people like Gary n Phil Neville, Danny Boyle, Mike Read and Ron Wood to step up now.......sadly I can't see it happening but I live in hope.

Re: Holy fuck.
Bury's perennial problem has been - Get near the top of the 3rd div get 4000+ crowd. Relegation zone in the 2nd - 2000 crowd.
Very very small club so need to rely on selling players to survive
Any 1/2 decent player we've had has left for supposedly greener pastures but we've not made enough outa them
Can see us struggling next year as well. Administration is looming unless something can be done soon
Desperate times & I think we could actually disappear completely. Its that bad !

Summed up perfectly Tony.
Everyone wants to see a winning team, irrespective of the division you're in.
Early discussion with investors have gone well apparently, so here's hoping.

Going into administration will have us playin Stocky in the Conference the season after...and as you said, that is a very real prospect
