Jordan Rhodes
27 goals this season so far in a poor Blackburn team
Worth a punt ?

Re: Jordan Rhodes
He'd cost us at least £13-£15M. Is that too much when we already have Guidetti?

Re: Jordan Rhodes
I know the Championship is easier to score in but 27 goals is pretty impressive in a team that was close to relegation. Could be worth £15 milion.

Re: Jordan Rhodes
He may well be worth £15M, but we are at a stage in our development where we need definite, proven talent.
Utd have the money and the pulling power to take punts on players like Zaha and Jones and Smalling to some extent. We just can't spend money on players who might make it. We need players that have already made it.

Re: Jordan Rhodes
Where exactly are you classing as having made it though Dawg........in the Prem, on the International stage, in the CL....where?
Why is Rhodes worth £15m?
Irrespective of what Rovers paid for him, he (and his agent) would jump at the chance of a move to the Prem...even more so to City. Imo he could be snapped up for less than £10M, which in the current climate is kak all.
Good shout this Tony, so definately worth a punt imo. Unfortunately, Mancini won't have him on his radar though.

Re: Jordan Rhodes
Another win and we should have 2nd sorted. I really hope some of the youngsters then get some game time to finish the season. Guidetti being a prime example of this. They have signed him to a longer contract so give him some game time.

Re: Jordan Rhodes
We have plenty of so called young talent that doesn't get game time. Where will Rhodes be in the pecking? If Tevev stays and we get another top striker he'll be, at best, 4th choice.
I'd rather we spent that money on getting ourselves the best striker we can. Someone that has done it at the top level (good domestic record and good champs league showing).
We cannot afford to get it wrong so why take the risk especially at the thick end of £10M???

Re: Jordan Rhodes
But if its £10 million that is not a lot
Kolarov £16 million
Sinclair £6m
Rodwell £12m
Garcia £16m
to name but a few

and Rhodes could easily join the list of players we paid good money for aren't up to it.
When you are fighting with one hand tied behind your FFP back, then you can't afford to take any punts. We can see what taking punts did for us this season just gone and I wouldn't want to repeat that.

Re: Jordan Rhodes
I dont agree. We can afford to take 1 or 2 punts. If we dont someone else will & they could easily end up with another Michu
The scum for eg are willing to take a punt on Zaha as they were on Kagawa
Why spend 40 50 60 million on players that aren't proven in the Englsih game when we can spend a fraction on someone that is. Who is to say that Falcao or Cavani would do any better than Dzeko? A far more risky punt
As for our punts this season. Rodwell was just plain crazy with his injury record, Sinclair we will never know as Bobby just refuses to play him, Garcia has shown glimpses and hopefully will repay the money spent on him next season now that he is settled. Nasty was an excellent punt

Re: Jordan Rhodes
I don't think we are in the position to take punts. We don't know if Cavani will make it, but his record in Italy is excellent and he is pretty decent in the chumps league too.
Rhodes is 'proven' in England in the championship!!!
Utd are in a more comfortable position than us as they have more money available (under FFP) and already have a decent squad. If they take a punt or two it shouldn't be a problem. They bought Zaha in the winter window for next season. They'll also buy a couple of players this window so Zaha may not even get much game time.
I will add that Kagawa was Dortmund's player of the year last year so hardly a punt.
