Extra 6,000 seats on South stand

Reported by a couple of papers (Telegraph and MEN) that City will add an extra 6k. We knew this would happen soon, just a matter on when now.

We'll definitely fill those extra 6k seats against the 'bigger' clubs easily, may be a tad more difficult against the Hulls of this world. The powers that be want us to be self financing by 2018, that's why we are traveling all over the place this summer and that's why we need these extra seats filled. Those seats should be worth about £5M a year if filled. Maybe they may do some more corporate seats/boxes and move 'regular' fans to these new seats in which case we may be able to get a couple million more.

The move to 60,000 seats may not be too far away and maybe we'll get more prestigious matches or other sports using the ground as well as bigger gates on concerts etc. Those 12,000 extra seats could well be worth £15M+ which is not to be sniffed at.

It's going to make the stadium look awful, though. I like the swooping roofline.

I took part in a survey on this very subject a couple of months ago and it looks like there's going to be more hospitality added - not boxes, necessarily, but something a bit nearer the seated dining thing they have in both the East and West stands. Maybe slightly more downmarket, as even the East stand hospitality is bastard expensive.
