Instead of spending in excess of £50m on 2 players that will be commanding wages of £300k pw, why not, with the £20m from the sale of Mario..........give Spurs £80m for Bale on £235k pw and keep what we've got, but add another CB?

I've got a really bad feeling the way this summer is panning out already.

Off-load the shite - Kolorov, Sinclair etc etc...and invest in some 'real' players and pay them top dollar!!

Less is more......pay them the top whack....and sign 3 players....simple as. We're not that far off CL qualification FFS.

blueboy-Some of your wage figures may be out of whack.West Ham have just agreed to give their Centre forward Carrol a raise to !00,000 a week.I am pretty sure that the days of fantastic wages have gone from the Etihad,especially now that we have the Spanish controlling the purse strings.The wages that Tevez is on could be a reason for letting him go,although he has been worth it recently!!

I don't think we'd need to pay Bale anywhere near £235k pw. Talk of his new contract with Spuds at 'only' £140k so I'm sure £200k would be enough, if not a bit less. We'd save ourselves a couple of million a season and he'd be happy with that sort of brass.

It's expensive, but a decent shout. Why not just bid £50M to get things started?

Of course...my figures were top end....

But let's face it, I'd rather spend £50-70m on Bale and give him top whack wages, than the 2 we've just signed, who combined will cost us over £50m and in excess of £300k pw on wages. And we get one of the best players in the world right now who can play pretty much anywhere.

With Real Madrid already having shown an interest, I guarantee if we do put an offer in, the Rags would join in and we'd no doubt end up being 3rd in the queue behind them both. If we are at all interested, i hope any deal's done hush hush and we just come out one day to everyones amazement and reveal he's signed for City .....as I reckon that's the only way we'd get him.

I too am a little apprehensive over our signings thus far blue....especially this Fernandinho fella. Although I have to admit, i'd feel a lot happier about things if Cavani and Isco signed.

By picking up two players, we have two options, two different players with different styles, and room to swap them over, play them together, or whatever. Buying one player for megabucks means we run the risk of him being found out, or getting injured, or simply folding under the weight of his transfer fee (see Torres and Carroll as recent examples of this).

Look, I think we've got the supporting acts sorted (Navas, Fernandinho, Isco), we just need the headline act (Bale or Cavani) so our efforts should be sorting one of those two out. We don't need any more £20M MFs, maybe just a backup CB (and LB if we rid ourselves of that non-defender that is Kolarov).

I think we've done most of our business already. If we can't get Cavani or Bale, maybe keep Dzeko and get Carroll as our battering ram.
