If we look at who we are supposed to have been pursuing:

Isco - £25m

Cavanni - £54m

Falcao - £45m

and who we have bought:

Navas - £17-£20m?
Fernadinho - £30m..in total.

Today, Chelsea have signed a top quality player in Schurrle for £17m!

Lewandowski may leave for £20-25m.

Why are we not in for these players?

IF Tevez does leave (big shame) for £10m, we cannot rely on Dzeko and Aguero for a whole season. Cavanni won't come, Lewandowski looks like he will run his contract down, Schurrle has now joined Chelsea....who is really left out there??

The only players I think we should be going all out for now....is Gareth Bale and Louis Suarez/Lewandowski.

Bale can play pretty much anywhere on the park...LB/MF/ST.

I'm a little worried.

Don't let m00n hear you talking bluey!

I'll say it again, we will not sell a striker without having someone else in the bag first.

I do share your sentiments as I don't believe that Navas and Fernandinho would have been on our priority list. They are no2 choices as were some of the purchase last summer (in fact, I think we bought some no3 choices).

I want 1 top name buy whether it be Bale, Cavani, Isco, Suarez, Lewandowski, even Thiago Alcantara, just someone that will really excite me.

Seems that way Bob. All the talk of Marwood couldn't get the big players, that's what led to last seasons shit performance, Mancini being sacked..blah de blah. We bring in 2 of world football's respected management team to change that.

What's happened? Pretty much fuck all. 2 signings that we weren't desperate for, selling Tevez, missing out on all the top signings out there.....and paying extortionate prices for the 2 we do sign...and Chelsea get the likes of Shurrle for £17m!!!

WTF are these two doing to rectify any problems we had last season???

I'm really, really worried.

Some will say..."stop being negative"....but those 2 players in addition to what we are losing does not in any way strengthen our team.

Come on.....we were excited 2 weeks ago.....now? I'm concerned.

I share your concern, bluey.  All the talk of Cavani and Isco and so far we've got a winger who suffered from severe homesickness and another flippin' Brazilian!  And on top of that we let Tevez go for basically nothing and Barry go for actually nothing.

This must be FFP.  I can't think of anything else it can be.

I also don't get our reluctance to sign German players.  Come on guys, look at Bert Trautmann and Uwe Rosler - two of our best loved players and both from the land of Germania.  Plus, hello, two CL finalists this year!!  Duh!!!

Although Navas wasn't that expensive...

I understand Navas...I really do, as we were crying out for width......but what worries me is the loss of Tevez and Balo......which leaves us with 2 strikers.....and 3 of the best 4 out there seem to have been snapped up by other teams.

Where is the follow through on Khaldoon's post season message?? If it's these 2 players we've signed, then that is pretty shit, considering who we have let go and who we have supposedly brought in to replace Marwood.

Lot's of Talk the Talk so far.....and nobody seems to be walking it, apart from other teams like Chelsea, Madrid, Arsenal and now United...with them saying they will make a £50m offer for Cavanni!

Come on you fuckwits.....sort it out!

I'd love to know who they have in mind after allowing who they have missed out on go to the competition and letting go who they have, in Tevez!!

As I said earlier.....all the big guns look like they won't come to us...so that leaves the one or two big players:

Bale
Ronaldo
Neymar
Suarez

All will cost fortunes.

Of those above - I'd only really like to see Bale now come to us so let's go and spend £60m to get him FFS!

Neymar has already signed for Barca, so that's a no-no.

I don't think FFP has anything to do with it. We've got the increased commercial income and the new tv deal, that should sort out FFP.

I can only believe that we have a hummdinger of a signing lined up and we have been quiet about it.

Harbingers of doom
We were lacking 3 things last season
1 pace & width
2 bit more steel in the middle to make up for yayas chronic asthma
3 commitment

Jesus provides 1
Fernandinho provides 2
Pellegrini had better sort out 3

Still by a country mile the best squad, just needed tweaking and a coach to get them playing for him

Carlos' work rate will be missed but the negativity off the pitch was definitely worth cashing in for when you take into account the mammoth wages.
I'd be very surprised if a replacement isn't already sorted

If we lose Isco to Real Madrid,it's hard to argue against as they are miles bigger than City are and probably ever will be
With the Spanish economy in meltdown I'm sure there are plenty more fish in the sea

Can't see Bale coming to us unless we offer the Spuds stupid money.....and I mean a lot more than £60m. With us already saying no to matching Cavanis buy-out clause of £53m, a bid for Bale's even more unlikely.

Ronaldo....can never see that happening and again it would take stupid money to buy him.

Falcao's just joined Monaco, so he's a no-no.

Suarez...he's gonna miss the 1st 8 games, so why would we want to buy him.

Lewandowski wants to stay in Germany, so he's a no-go too.

Isco could easily have followed Pellegrini to City but has now decided he want's to join Real, so he's seems to be a no-no.......but don't write this one off just yet.

On the German theme leo, what about Mario Gomez then?.....although they might not entertain any deal until Lewandowski joins Bayern next season.

So, like you all say....who the hell's left?scratch

I know all said & done that Isco is indeed a real Madrid player, But just a theory what if Isco hasn't committed to Real because we told him nothing would be done until Wednesday,. Now we have confirmation Tevez is set to leave we get !2 million for him plus freeing up 27 million in wages. We have played last season with one out & out striker so has Pellegrini with Malaga. Tevez was also deployed as a midfield player at times last season so with aguero or dzeko up top with the very attack minded midfield players like silva , Nasri and why not Isco  the width of Navas that could be quite potent without necessarily having to buy another striker.

Quite.  I've mentioned Gomez before, works hard, gets into attacking positions, a proper goal poacher.  And he's just got three medals with his current club and looks like he might get sidelined next season if Lewandowski ends up there.

Saurez has apparently agreed terms with Madrid...
plus wouldn't want him either, as good as he is, his reputation is not what fits in with our new global image being pushed by Txiki and Ferran, same reason Rooney wouldn't be welcomed ( apart from the obvious)
With Tevez gone, there is need for a striker, Cavani's buy out clause runs out 10th August, whether we can still do something there I don't know.
Gomez is off to Fiorentina apparently...
Higauin to Arsenal isn't a cert as yet, his club are denying it at the moment...

The player merry go round will start in earnest once Tevez has officially gone.
