Fred and Cardozo...any thoughts?
Don't really know too much about either of them myself. Both are too old for my liking (29 and 30 I think) and too expensive (£20M+). I'd rather plump for David Villa at around £10M. If Spurs are interested in him, then they wouldn't pay him big money (prob £100k per week max). Even though he's 31, 2 or 3 good seasons from him would be worth it.

Don't want any of them, nor Villa.
As you said, why are we looking at 29/30 year old players?? Sort of messes with our plan for the long-term....as we may as well have kept Tevez who was proven.
I've still got a sneaky feeling we'll get Cavanni before the close of the transfer window and we will stick with 3 strikers.

Chelsea have offered 45 mill. for Cavani and I think that is still too much for him.If we want someone for the future I still think that Benteke or Suarez, although Suarez is not too happy in England at the moment:)

Re: Fred and Cardozo...any thoughts?
Suarez misses the 1st 8 games of the season too ceb so i thnk we should stay clear.
Cavani's gonna cost close to £50m.....way too much imo.
As regards the OP, i'm in agreement with blue, hope we aren't really looking at any of um.
But we do need a 3 striker......but i really don't know who.

Ideally I wouldn't want any of them for their age and the cost. I just suggested Villa as a much cheaper alternative to the other two.

Cavani's price will come down the longer the transfer drags on. irrespective of what de laurentis is saying I believe that they have to sell Cavani because he wants to leave. Napoli won't want a forward who has no desire to be there so the hard ball tactics of de Laurentis are in my opinion a smoke screen to try and get as much cash out of a prospective buyer as possible. As for Chelsea already offering 45 million, I reckon that is just paper talk.

Re: Fred and Cardozo...any thoughts?
I don't know if he's worth £20m, but Fred wouldn't be a bad option. Remember when England played Brazil at Wembley a few months back? We were all watching Neymar and he was a bit crap, but Brazil suddenly looked likely to score (and did do) when Fred came on.
Bit of a Mario Gomez style player. But I'd rather have Gomez, purely because of our poor track record with Brazilian players.

Why not get Gomez and Fred for £35M rather than Cavani for £50M? Hopefully one or both come off and Gomez already has experience.

Re: Fred and Cardozo...any thoughts?
I guess that would depend on how much we'd be paying them each week. If their combined wage was the same as (or less than) we'd have offered Cavani, then getting both should be a no-brainer.
But Gomez is still the better option in terms of European experience and comes from what might just be the best team in Europe right now.

Fred is the same age as Tevez - and younger than YaYa. If last night is anything to go by and we could get him at a decent price - I would say yes.

And once again, Wensdi and I are on the same page. They should ditch Tixy and Soreen and just get us in!

See I just don't get any of it? Cavani is too expensive. Fred looked good for Brazil but no point buying a 29 year old unless they are the caliber of RVP and are going to score us 25+ goals.
I would much rather get a Bentekke as 3rd striker as he looked very good in a poor Villa side.

Fred is too old and he is not a prolific goal scorer like Cavani who is too expensive. I think the price will come down but it will be late in this window if it does happen and we don't want to be left with no plan B and only 2 out and out 1st team strikers plus Guidetti.I agree that Benteke is worth a punt and will be relatively cheap in terms of fee and wages.
