Yaya Toure
Now we all have our reasons as to why Yaya plays the way he does, but my reasoning is simple......he's played or is allowed to play toooooo deep.
How many times have we seen him pick the ball up from Hart, either next to or behind our own back 4?...............it drives me friggin mad.
He was doing it while Mancini was incharge and he's carried it on with the new gaffer too. Surely, with the new arrival of Fernandinho....coupled with other defensive midfielders such as Garcia, Rodwell and before that Barry....it's not rocket science to tell him to push and STAY further upfield (ie, as an attacking midfielder).
We all know how good he is with the ball in attacking areas and we also know he's the only CM that's ever likely to get us more than 10 goals a season......so why can't he be told to be more attacking?
If we can all see this, why oh friggin why can't our managers?

I agree. Maybe it's because that's how he has always played so he is just used to it. He was more of a DM at Barca, not sure why because he is pants at DM.
Still not sure on this Fernandinho, I've seen nothing from him yet that would warrant £5m, let alone £30m. I miss Barry.

Hey, it's just words on a virtual page, Bluey. What's the worst that could happen?

Wrath - LOL - just harmless banter BlueBoy. Most of the commentators think YaYa is such a gifted player. We on the other hand seem to think he's a lazy sack of dog gism. I tend to err on the side of Martin Tyler and the like.

have to agree with shaken when he picks up the ball around the centre of the pitch and starts one of his charging runs you feel like something good will happen, as opposed to picking it up in front of the back 4 lolling forward losing possession and ambling back.

He's great when he's up for it, but gets brushed aside too easily when challenging for the ball. When he's got it, you can't get it off him but when you've got it, he puts in half hearted attempts to get it off you.
He is also a lazy SOS (sack of shit) for getting back and helping the defence out.

I know he's lazy, but I don't recall anyone using an expression quite so colourful as comparing him to a bag of canine love gravy.

Re: Yaya Toure
So, do we think Yaya was pushed any further forward yesterday?
I personally think he was....I can't actually remember 1 occasion where he received the ball from Hart.
Sure he got back and defended when he had to, but for the most part Fernandinho was left to help the defence out and he was left to attack at pace the Rags back 4.....long may that continue Yaya.

Re: Yaya Toure
Exactly that Shaken.....look at how many times he received the ball from Vinny, Zaba and Navas in the centre circle......he definitely much further forward....look at how many times he ran down the wing with the ball.....he's not done that all season.
And to be fair, I've had a go at both Yaya and Fernandinho so far this season - but with Yaya further forward, I think it allowed Fernando to read the game better and be more effective in his positioning and tackling - thought he was an unsung hero as well yesterday.

I couldn't believe the turn of speed he had, OK it was old man Evra but he literally flew past him at one point.
Hopefully it took them a few games but the pairing with Fernandinho could actually work out very well.

The dog gism was outstanding yesterday
Big difference when he plays further forward rather than babysitting Garcia like he was last week

Glad YaYa is getting a bit of credit - maybe YaYa only takes orders from the boss - and the boss has told him not to play as deep. Anyway glad he wasn't dropped - I'm just coming out of the Ladies room.!!!!

Re: Yaya Toure
Fernandinho for me will be our best buy this season, i have watched the work he does off the ball and the effort he puts in. Great football brain IMO, also the other unsung hero from Sunday has to be Negrado he shrugged Vidic off for Sergio's 2nd goal like swatting a fly and won more from Corners (including Yaya's goal) and set pieces than Dzeko has since he's been with us... Early days and still getting to know our best starting line up but with Silva Milner Jovetic and Rodwell to come back we are looking better than ever!! forgot Clichy and Micah
