He's certainly true to his word..."we'll always play the same way"
Let's hope Dzeko puts in another big shift today.
Yaya loves scoring against Newcastle, so fingers crossed, he can do it again.
Be a tough test this today, Newcastle need to bounce back and Pardew is talking up his chances.

Re: Team Today
Lucky call on the goal, but we've sat on our laurels too much after the goal. Ref is having a shocker booking our players for things he let go earlier in the game.

Newcastle are going to be well fired up in the 2nd half after that decision so we need to be hard and strong otherwse they will do us

The 'tackle' on Nasri deserved a red card. He tried three times to bring him down and the last kick was disgusting.

Re: Team Today
That sort of tackle should be punished much more severely. Nasri looks like he won't be around for a few weeks and the 'tackler' gets nothing really.

Pardew has obviously told his 'players' to go out and kick us off the pitch. Nasty team

Re: Team Today
Great win....awful performance by some of our key players today, but as long as we can win ugly, not play our best and get the rub of the green every now and then...that's PL winners form.
Yaya
Silva
Fernandinho
Navas
Nasri
were all pretty poor today....main gripe was the constant giving the ball away.....
Looks like Nasri has medial ligament damage...if bad....could be the rest of the season, if not, at least 4 weeks.
Pardew and MP:
MANAGER VIEW - Newcastle 0-2 Manchester City
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew on Cheick Tiote's disallowed goal: "We're in an entertainment business and the guy's hit a wonder goal that Joe Hart isn't going to save.
"I'm not thrilled with the referee's answer when I've asked for an explanation as I don't quite get how he can disallow a goal of that quality on the technical point he is using.
"Joe Hart is nowhere near it. It goes through a crowd of City players who are impairing his view.
"It's a massive call on a very technical point.
"Pellegrini said something to me on the touchline which I wasn't happy with, it was normal banter where I probably used words I shouldn't have in the heat of the moment and I apologise for that."
MANAGER VIEW - Newcastle 0-2 Manchester City
Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini: "It was a very difficult game and it's a very big result as we know it's a tough place to come and win.
"Nothing important was said on the touchline between me and Alan Pardew, but I think it's impossible for the referee to handle a game when every time he gave a decision against Newcastle there were complaints.
"It was an offside goal as they were interfering with Joe Hart and the referee made that call.
"I think the tackle on Nasri should have been a red card."

Re: Team Today
My stream played up when he got hurt. Haven't seen anything about his knee yet, but let's hope he gets lucky.
We had a girl do her knee in in my badminton class on Friday night. She was in a heck of a lot of pain and I feared some ligament damage. Luckily for her, it seems like it's just a sprain kind of injury and she should be back in a few weeks.

Re: Team Today
Don't agree with your assessment Blueboy - considering we were away at Newcastle. Thought the whole team played well - to get 2 goals with the ref playing for Newcastle. We really dug in after 60 minutes, didn't sit back and it paid off. Lousy decisions by the ref - the guy who fouled Nasri should have had a red - and we still got another goal despite the crowd, ref and Pardew's shameless behaviour. Last season we would have caved. Well done.
Some players had a better game than others obviously, but considering the big picture - well done City and MP.

Re: Team Today
Well sorry Wensdi...but Yaya was poor, got a knock and went off.
Silva kept giving the ball away.
Nasri was average.
Fernandhino had his worse game in a long time, too far forward a lot of the time, kept giving silly passes away.
Navas when he came on wanted 2 touches every time he got into great positions.
So sorry....they were poor.
We rode our luck an awful lot of times in that game.
Too many free headers for them in our box....Taylor's header should have gone in...poor defending lead to Remy's shot that was well saved by Hart, Tiote's was a goal, shall I go on????
We got a lucky break at the end with Negredo's goal, but overall....if Tiote's goal was allowed, Newcastle would have been disappointed to come away with a draw in that game...simple as that.

Re: Team Today
Give Newcastle some credit, they really had a go at us especially when the crowd were baying for our blood. I was surprised we didn't concede, but aren't we entitled to a little luck? If we'd got an early 2nd goal that our play deserved, I think we'd have battered them to South Shields and back.
I don't think we played rubbish today, but we did ride our luck.

Re: Team Today
blueboy you have to accept that these guys are human and cannot play beautiful football away from home like they do at the Etihad and sweep all before them.
Sometimes they go to hard places like St James Park and it's not going to be as easy, to criticise players for not playing silky football at grounds where the pitches are also are not as good as ours is a bit harsh.
I do not think any of the players played badly today and they all put in a good shift and tracked back to defend when required.
Even the players that have come in for the most criticisms this season like Kolarov, Dzeko and Garcia did a decent job today under difficult circumstances and i for one refuse to criticise any of them and in fact applaud them for that result.

Re: Team Today
Thought it was an excellent battling performance
Yes we did give the ball away a bit too easily but all in all we kept them at bay despite some ferocious challenges & looked the more likely to score. That was the sort of game eg like at Cardiff & Villa that we would have dropped points a few weeks ago but they kept their balance & heads and MP got it correct with the subs
Despite my constant slagging, Kolarov I have to admit is becoming a decent option at LB

Re: Team Today
Spot on MCM, from the 2nd half aerial bombardment to kicking us off the park it was a great performance under so much pressure. Yes 1st half we gave it away a bit but our defending was like old and nothing like early in the season.

Don't expect us to play silky football every week....so when they don't play well, they don't play well.....
Ok......we were superb today, does that sit better???

Re: Team Today
We weren't superb but we battled it out and got the winner, deservedly particularly as Newcastle bombarded us - at their place. I don't think we should criticize players unless they are absolutely awful. I agree Kolarov is becoming a decent player - his crosses are excellent. Just watched a re-run of the City v Utd game in September and Kolarov was brilliant that day. Nasri also has played brilliantly this season as has Silva so why knock them today - they all played their part.

Re: Team Today
Wensdi, I'm giving an subjective opinion.
I would never say a player was brilliant in one game, solely on their form in others....that's what your implying I should do.
If they weren't great, they weren't great.....and that doesn't in any way, take away from the fact we got 3 points, certain players battled well or we rode our luck.....
OK....'poor' may have been the wrong word. Average may have been a better one.
We did have players today that were nowhere near their best, which, when you have 3 or 4 of them not performing to the standards they are used to, the team then cannot play to their ability, which today, we didn't.
Overall, I think you could call it ' a battling performance' if you like.....but in addition, we were very lucky.

Like I said, thought Kolorov had a decent game...his block-tackle in the 2nd half was excellent, as was his cross for Dzeko.
Hart did well also.

Re: Team Today
Against Cardiff and Sunderland or even Crystal Palace it could be argued that we were poor but against Newcastle we were nowhere near as bad as those games. You could easily argue that we have played better and passed better but "poor"? i'm sorry but against such fierce tackling and on a pitch that was a lot worse than ours and against a decent team that put us under a lot of pressure we did very well to come away with 3 points. We have played better and lost away games this season (Villa) so i absolutely refuse to label that performance as poor. i will wait until we actually deserve that level of criticism. I acknowlege that we may view things differently from time to time and are all entitled to our opinion and thats mine.
